t’s a sad but true fact: most people don’t get out of bed in the morning feeling high on life. The research is grim and the faces around us even more so. Apparently, 70% of Americans hate their jobs, and would quit if they “could”!
These days, you are in one of two camps: you either feel stuck, trapped, and firmly ensconced in the rat race, or you realise life is for living, and you’ll do whatever it takes to find work that is meaningful. It is time to evolve or evaporate, my friends; time to throw away those “shoulds” and start taking a few risks.
Life is beautiful, and it is full of opportunities to challenge yourself, do amazing things, shed your old skin, and become whoever you want to be. I don’t know whether I believe in reincarnation, but from where I sit, it looks like we only get one go round. Why waste your time doing something that you don’t love?
“The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are.” — Joseph Campbell
I’ve been blogging for a living for over 8 years now. In that time, I’ve had monthly columns in Cosmopolitan, worked as both a style and beauty editor for major media outlets, and been featured everywhere from The New York Times to CBS and ABC News. I’ve worked with celebrities and coached incredible women. Additionally, and perhaps most crucially, I’ve been able to carve out a niche that enables me to live a very good life in NYC. This is no small feat!
The work I do challenges me in new ways every day, and that’s one of the reasons it keeps me so interested. I work extremely hard, but the best thing is that I love every minute of it. I get sublime pleasure out of each piece, from the branding to the marketing, strategizing and planning. The cherry on top of all that is that I am writing for a living. This is my greatest dream realised, and I am so, so grateful.
But none of this would have happened if I hadn’t made the leap eight years ago.
It is essential that we create our own opportunities. If you neglect to carve a path for yourself, someone else definitely will. Wouldn’t you rather make your own?
One of my absolute favourite things is getting out from behind the laptop and meeting new people. Once we get past pleasantries, they’re either curious about radical self love, or blogging. They ask me, “How do you pay the bills with your own words? Where did you start? Are blogs even relevant anymore? Is it too late for me?”
They’re all good questions, and that’s precisely why we created The Blogcademy. I dreamt it up with two of my best friends in Las Vegas in 2012, and before we knew what was happening, we were teaching sold-out classes all across the world.
Building and sustaining a successful blog is just like starting any other type of business. If you want to make an impact with your words — or, as is so often the case, use the internet to bolster your business’ bottom line — there are very definite do’s and don’ts. That’s exactly what we teach.
But after a couple of years, 1000 in-person students, and hundreds of requests to visit cities all over the globe, we realised it was time to scale this baby up. There were so many people around the world missing out on our class: women in Invercargill who couldn’t get a babysitter, babes stranded in Tasmania, excitable dames in Chicago who missed the dates… And the list went on!
INTRODUCING: THE BLOGCADEMY ONLINE!
The Blogcademy Online is our solution to all of those perilous problems. It’s our in-person class, filmed live and bundled so that you can sit in on a session wherever — and whenever — you please.
The course is broken down into short videos, between 10 minutes and an hour each. You can either watch the whole lot in one weekend, or spread them out and dip in and out when your schedule allows!
What will you learn? We’ll give you the essential formatting basics to make sure your blog looks its best, and then we move straight into creating a blogging business plan to help you work out exactly where you want to go. We’ll assist you in discovering your ideal reader, as well as writing a killer about page, and solidly defining your blog’s purpose. We cover everything you need to know to create killer content, discuss the importance of consistency, show you how to use social media for great results, teach you how to network (without feeling like a sleaze!), and give you a big branding rundown. We do a case study of The Blogcademy, answering the question, “How did you teach over 1000 people in just two years’ time?” We’ll show you how to compose and shoot great still life photographs, teach you all we know about blog advertising, give you the skinny on brand collaborations, show you some business documents you’ll need, discuss diversifying your income — with guest posts, media coverage, digital products, and publishing — and show you how (and where!) to find great images you can use on your blog.
That’s not all, my love! The Blogcademy Online is absolutely huge. You will receive:
Over six hours of video lessons, broken down into bite-sized modules: easy to digest, actionable information that you can watch whenever and wherever you’d like!
A 300 page transcript of the entire class. (Think of this as an enormous how-to-blog bible!)
24 pages of action-packed worksheets and activities, to help you implement everything you’ve learned.
A huge list of resources which includes every single book, tool, website and professional we personally recommend. This is priceless! Every online resource we mention in class is hyperlinked in the back of the workbook — just click and go!
Life-time access, baby! The course is yours to keep. You can login, watch, and re-watch the lessons as many times as you like!
An absolutely insane amount of know-how and encouragement. With over 30 years of collective blogging experience, we really have done it all. As a blogcadette, you get the opportunity to learn from our mistakes… And our successes, too!
Access to our private Facebook community. There are currently over 300 Blogcadettes in the group, and it’s growing every single day. The forum is full of helpful, supportive bloggers and entrepreneurs. It’s the ideal place to ask for advice and to be among people who ‘get it’!
We couldn’t resist spoiling you. We want you to get the very best out of your Blogcademy experience, so as a bonus, we’ve added:
A pre-course worksheet for you to fill in before you start the lessons. You’ll receive this immediately, and it will help you assess where your blog and business are now. Clocking in at a walloping 14 pages, this will allow you to get a firm fix on where you are, and where you can improve.
An exclusive 22-page Blogging Business Plan! You can use this as a roadmap to chart exactly where you want to go, and how to get there!
A pack of inspirational wallpapers: perfect for printing out and hanging by your desk, or for using as your computer or phone background.
The Blogcademy Online is $497, or you can pay in two easy installments of $250.
It’s a wicked course, and we’ve put so much love, energy, and effort into it. The testimonials from our live class really do say it all: The Blogcademy can — and will — change your life!
