Quotes of the Day -- 14th April 2007

[ 15 April 2007 ]

“I wanted a perfect ending. Now, I’ve learned, the hard way, that some poems don’t rhyme & some stories don’t have a clear beginning, middle & end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment & making the best of it, without knowing what’s going to happen next. Delicious ambiguity.”
— Gilda Radner
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
— Mark Twain
“Where nature goes to create stars, galaxies, quarks & leptons, you & I also go to create ourselves.”
— Deepak Chopra

  1. love, love, love Gilda. all the qoutes are great, especially the Mark Twain. it’s too true, regret is more about what we didn’t do than what we did.

  2. I agree with Aimee. Even if at the time it seems like we did the worst thing in the world, eventually we get over the things that we’ve done… but we never seem to get over the things that we didn’t do. Maybe it’s because of the lack of closure? I don’t know, but it’s really quite interesting now that I think about it.

Lovely, lovely thoughts Gala, thank you for sharing them :)

  3. Glad you liked them! I was having one of those moments where I felt like my sentiments were better said by those who had come before me, haha.

  4. “Existence is not a problem to be solved, it is a mystery to be lived. And you should be perfectly aware what the difference is between a mystery and a problem. A problem is something created by the mind; a mystery is something which is there, not created by the mind. A problem has an ugliness in it, like disease. A mystery is beautiful. With a problem, immediately a fight arises. You have to solve it; something is wrong, you have to put it right; something is missing, you have to supply the missing link. With a mystery there is no question like that. The moon arises in the night…. It is not a problem, it is a mystery. You have to live with it. You have to dance with it. You have to sing with it, or you can be just silent with it. Something mysterious surrounds you.”- Osho
