The Virgo Birthday Extravaganza: Report!
[ 17 September 2008 ]

Nubby & I had such an incredible birthday! If you came out to Central Park to celebrate with us, let me say a huge THANK YOU! It was really touching & awesome that so many of you made the effort. Even better, you were all gorgeous, charming & well-dressed! We couldn’t have asked for a better guest list.
We received some amazing gifts, including wedding rings from Princess Poochie, beautiful prints from Cynthia, pink roses, books of poetry, heart-shaped cakes, stockings & eye make-up, birthday cards & lots of hugs!

Nubby & I opening our presents from Marie...

She gave us custom-made corsages! Nubby’s had Michael Jackson on it, & mine had a picture of Biggie. Swoon.

Exchanging vows — with Star officiating!

My beautiful bride/groom!

Our party was originally going to happen on the grass in Strawberry Fields, but it had been raining a little bit beforehand so the ground was pretty muddy. We decided to go & perch on a big rock, instead. This is a photo from the beginning of the party — I think there were probably around 50 guests in total. Most of them were from New York, but people flew in from California & North Carolina, as well as Boston & a girl from Melbourne who just happened to be in NYC at the time! (It was weird to hear an Australian accent again!)

Our triple layer cake from Sugar Sweet Sunshine. When I was ordering it on the phone, the woman asked if I wanted decorations & sprinkles. I said, “Can you please make it kind of… pink & ridiculous?”

Mmmm, red velvet.
When Bianca showed up, she told Nubby & I that she’d like to set up her camera & take portraits of the guests. This is what transpired…

It was a long day. Here is photographic evidence of us crashed out in our matrimonial bed in our incredible suite at the Hotel On Rivington!
We had such a great time, & we hope you did too! If you were able to join us, thank you so much for celebrating our birthdays with us! If you weren’t, maybe we’ll see you next year… ?!
Super-love & cupcakes,

You guys all look so beautiful! Happy birthday, birthday twin
Gala knows how to throw a party! Sorry I couldn’t make it.
Much love,
D
That looks incredible! So sad I missed it (being in London made it difficult!). I especially love your outfit Gala, and the get-up that girl with the yellow blouse was sporting. Happy happy birthdays!
Looks like it was an absolute blast! Glad you two gorgeous ladies had a fabulous wedding/birthday extravaganza, and SO wish I could’ve been there.
Those portraits of your guests are a scream. Were they asked to jump, or was everyone just feeling particularly bouncy?
wow.. what a fabulous time and fabulous partygoers!
maybe next year i can make it, as i have a feeling there will be more of these in the works.. .. ;-)
What a fantastic birthday party/wedding! I adore the photos of the well-dressed guests and balloons. And your outfit, well…it rocks my stripey socks. Happy birthday and best wishes on your new marraige ;)
That does look like one hell of a fun party. I’m bummed that I missed it, but after I move to Philadelphia in February, I’ll be able to attend next year. :)

Oh, and your dress was SPECTACULAR!!!!!!!!
Props for letting me live vicariously through you!
What an amazing party!
Maybe next year I’ll be able to go, who knows?
Kisses.
Those cupcakes and that cake are mouthwatering. You and all your guests are just as mouthwateringly adorable too! I can just almost smell the sugar. Mmmm…
Although it did occur to me that the downside of being born in July is that I can’t have a cake that says “CANCER POWER!” on it without feeling a bit unnerved by a possible different interpretation of that phrase.
everything was more than awesome!! gala, you and the girls looked great! i love the idea of celebrating your birthday in the park. can i borrow it for when my birthday will come? ;)
oh, and i want to come to ny to celebrate with you next year!

One, that cake looks superb. When I saw the picture of it I actually had to go downstairs and get a brownie. Seriously, yum. And two – I am officially in looooove with that hotel! The pictures of the penthouse make my mouth water, almost literally. :)

yoohooo!!!! big wave to all the people i met that day it was great to get to meet you guys. i can’t believe i forgot some of your names. (i’m terrible) hopefully we can meet up again soon!
Dear Gala,
right now I can barely access the internet because I am taking up on a neighbourhing wifi connexion. I have been sick & bedridden for weeks after what looks like food [rather drink] poisoning or some infection of some sort. One night I went to a bar, ordered a Melon Ball [Midori
melon alcohol+ OJ] and later that night I started vomiting…. after 3 days not being able to keep anything down, I had to go to the hospital. I am slowly recovering. I’m gonna sound paranoid but I’m wondering if the bartender *a friend of my archnemesis foe, who I used to Hattori-Hanzo-swordfight with [yes, I have a “Hattori Hanzo” sword, it’s black & silver & hanging above my bed on my bright yellow wall and it is glorious!! her name is Mithræbène..and yes it is sharpened…and 4 foot long!]... anyway this guy,the Ninja who is sort of a character like me around these parts, always wearing a long black trench & black hat [he has long dirty blond hair too, the bastard! we have a longstanding love-hate relationship.. I’ll probably end up marrying him,,], I broke down his front door with my pink leather boots, too… is a good friend of the guy who made me that drink * so I’m wondering if he didnt put something in it but it’s probably just a coincidence…eh… anyway, I HAVE SURVIVED!!! You cant kill a Samurai unless he/she wants you to!Leaving the subject of my big ego and coming back to being galacentric now!
I wanted to say I thought of you on Saturday, I knew it was your b-day & all, and if I had had the money and been in good health I would definitely have been there!! One of my goals in 2009 shall be to meet you, either by me going to NYC [I have never been!!! can you believe this??] or you visiting Quebec City!! I say, if you want to have a good time, come sometime in the first 2 weeks of February- its the Winter Carnival- with ice and snow sculptures everywhere in town, an ice palace -there is even an ice hotel where you can sleep on ice beds, with ice furniture, etc], the bars open their terraces and make ice chairs & tables, and everyone is celebrating in the streets. Of course you will need a very good coat, but with stylish gloves, earmuffs, boots and a scarf, you’ll be all-set!! I would be so glad to show you my beautiful, old-world city! You can basically forget you are in the 21st century and picture yourself in the Renaissance, Marie-Antoinette or Middle Ages era. Everything is old, and new constructions need to comply with certain rules as not to clash with the rest. I love my town!!
If I was a millionaire [or if I ever become one] I would definitely go to NYC at least once a month just to have lunch with you, Gala!! You are such a doll!!!
So, congrats on the nuptials [or shall I say nubbtials!] I cant see the pictures, they wont load, arghhh but I’ll have internet [reliable kind] at home next month! I am just too broke & cannot work right now, but before getting sick, I took a 3-week course and got my diploma as an “International Master Bartender”!! I passed the final exam with a perfect score of 100%!! I“m so proud!! My ultimate goal, of course, is to be a novel writer and work from home, which I already do [I reserved a domain in my name & all that] but bartending is a fun, easy job and it is such easy money!! I made 200$ on one 5-hour night filling in for a girl who went to a wedding [40$ an hour!] and that was in a crummy little bar, not in a classy hotel or anything hip. It’s also a job you can work part-time, leaving space for personal endeavours. And the world will ALWAYS need bartenders :)
Sorry I’m so chatty [I’m typing this in TextEdit and will go to an internet-safe place to post it!!] also my MACBOOK DIED! So I had to BUY a brand new one, a black one of course, I think the old one committed suicide because I misnamed him Mac’n‘Cheese, which I admit, wasnt very nice…. the motherboard just exploded one day [and I hadnt bought the warranty, thinking “this is Mac, it can break!” wrong… The new one is called MAChiavel…. I have one year to buy the extended warranty, and I will… this had loaded up my VISA to the max and I’m living a hand to mouth life…. but during this time I am resting and taking care of “homebase”
my appartmentsorting through things, deep cleaning, re-arranging furniture, etc. One corner at a time, when I,m too tired I stop and nap. My cat has been very supportive.Well, xoxoxoxox to you and take care
lots of cupcakes & love to you & Nubby [love Nubby, I stumbled upon her LJ a few years ago & loved it instantly!!!]
I cant believe you’re only 25 and have come so far!!! You’re an inspiration! xoxo

Ohhhmygoodness. The girl in the second picture of the guests is one of my BEST FRIENDS...who conveniently forgot that I read iCiNG and went without me. But I forgive her.
