Things I Love Thursday

Things I Love ThursdayPhoto by the incredible Elena Kalis.

WHAT A WEEK! A couple of days ago, my computer totally pooped itself & thus yesterday/last night/this morning was spent reinstalling my O.S. & all my programs. Quel dommage! The bad news — I lost the Carousel I was compiling (& it was a goodie!) & a few articles that were half- or almost finished. The good news — everything important is backed up on my external hard-drive (& I wrote a whole lot of this week’s TiLT on the back page of a Moleskine I was using for writing class!). PHEW. The lesson? Don’t install dodgy fonts! It is not worth the anguish!

ALRIGHT! So here we go with the lurve list!

Numero uno has got to be the fact that I am up & operational again! Having a computer which works is such a blessing. I sent a message to my editor on Tuesday night: My computer isn’t booting up, just went to Apple store to have someone look at it but won’t be able to get an appointment until tomorrow night. Ugh. Sorry. Will try newfangled “writing on paper” until then. The horror! It’s just not the same, so I am really happy… !

I also love The Dish, for saying, “I love your outfit, it’s perfect”, when I was wearing a hot pink tulle crinoline with motorcycle boots, an inverted pentagram t-shirt & a striped undershirt. I love him even more for taking me to a motorbike show while I wore it, & holding my hand! Haha!

Other things I am super-ing: Researching eyelash treatments (as soon as my eyelash extensions fall off — & they are holding pretty tight right now! — I am all over the generic version of Latisse! I already ordered it, details & reviews to come!); Prometheus Springs‘ Pomegranate Black Pepper Capsaicin Spiced Elixir (you have no idea, it is so delicious); Burt’s Bees Repair Serum (I started using it a few days ago & I swear it is a miracle-worker); lemon slice; eating salad for dinner & feeling rad & virtuous; the fact that my writing class is all women (there’s just something cool about that); watching the snow fall outside my window; “We’re having a sexy party”; George Michael (); Amazon gifts (thank you so much Rhymney!); re-doing one of my vision boards (it is all pink & white, Marie Antoinette & pulp fiction covers, flower-encrusted shoes & fuschia feathers & the last days of disco); looking forward to seeing Jake Money next month; filming in Molly’s amazing apartment while wearing sequinned ears; Elena Kalis’ photography; planning my movements for NYFW (the most exhausting but also one of the most exhilirating weeks of the year); plotting photoshoots; Knonam; booking plane tickets; snuggling in a big pile with my family; laughing on the phone with my mother until I can’t breathe; exciting invitations; dreaming up outfits; upcoming Chinese New Year; clean clothes & clean sheets; this; the staff at the Apple store who really do make you feel okay about the fact that you are about to lose everything on your computer; FreshDirect (s-e-r-i-o-u-s-l-y g-r-e-a-t); Miss Chloe; keeping secret candy stashes (just call me Grandma Darling, or, Claudia Kishi!!!); the life & cuisine of Elvis Presley; skull everything; cheap rings covered in crystals; the Chelsea Hotel (it’s the first place I ever stayed in NYC, back in 2006, & I still feel very fond of it); when free cabs show up as soon as you step into the street; walking in the snow (it is like a magical optical illusion, though apparently I am the only one who sees this?!); rice crackers; daydreaming about a fantastic summer; silver-grey & electric blue eye-shadow; this!!!, & finally, my father (Daddy Darling!) for scanning in this photo (CHECK IT OUT, non-regulation uniforms FOREVER!) & this one in which I look sooooooo excited & happy! The perfect photo for Things I Love Thursday, wouldn’t you say?!

“I am an excitable person who only understands life lyrically, musically, in whom feelings are much stronger than reason. I am so thirsty for the marvelous that only the marvelous has power over me. Anything I can not transform into something marvelous, I let go. Reality doesn’t impress me. I only believe in intoxication, in ecstasy, & when ordinary life shackles me, I escape, one way or another. No more walls.” (Anaïs Nin)

How about you, delicious one? Tell us who & what is making up your fountain of delight this week! Love lists please, tout de suite!
