Things I Love Thursday
[ 23 April 2008 ]
Raw food — Dark chocolate-covered ginger, oh yes! It is insanely good, I have been eating huge amounts of it. (I buy mine but you can make your own easily!) Big bowls of guacamole (avocado, tomato, red onion, garlic, lime, salt, pepper, ground chilli — combine, then dip carrots!). Mushroom pate (sunflower seeds, mushrooms, sundried tomatos, garlic, water, salt & pepper blended)! Yum yum yum. & the best thing? My body feels really good.
When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Sh!t Gold — Atmosphere’s new album. It is great. My favourite tracks are ‘Dreamer’ & ‘Me’. To celebrate their release, they launched Paint That Sh!t Gold dot com, & if you go there you can listen to lots of the tracks as well as taking part in an awesome game. Atmosphere are on tour RIGHT NOW, so if you’re in the States or Canada you should check out the dates & get your ass to a show. I promise you will not regret it, they are my favourite music act ever. Ever ever ever. Oh & also, as part of TiLT, dreams about Slug are pretty good, too. I woke up very happy this morning! Wheeeee!
Karen Knowler — Raw saint & genius. Behold her halo! We had our second raw coaching call last night & it was just as amazing, if not more amazing, than the first one. She gave me tons of useful prompts, questions & exercises to help make my transition easier (& as soon as I post this I’m going to do my “raw homework”!). If you’re going raw as part of the iTC or are just curious, check out her free resources (I especially recommend So You Want To Go Raw?) & books, DVDs & audio. Everything she does is infused with love & passion — she is the perfect raw guide. Bless. (Oh, & I will be posting our raw coaching call as an MP3 very shortly!)
Salvador — I love my fake dog. He sits on the bed with me & watches television, it’s great. Hanging out with him often reminds of the law of attraction stories where they tell you that you should make space for whatever it is you want, so it’s more real. I feel like I’m doing that every time I see him. It’s good.
Cheerleading — A number of things. One: I still can’t believe I actually did it. I am so proud, seriously. That is so not like the old me. Two: I’m amazed at how much fun it was! Three: I’m flabbergasted by how coordinated I actually am! Man, I can’t wait to go back on Sunday. Squeal!
Reading the iTC discussion — I’m really loving hearing about everyone’s progress. It’s so cool & so inspiring to know that we’re all experiencing triumphs & issues, & it makes my heart boom with pride to see people helping one another out. The encouragement is amazing & exactly what a lot of us need. The iTC has been hard work for all of us, but you know what? If it was easy, everyone would do it! Some things are worth striving for, & we’ll get there together, I promise!
Honourable mentions — My new Bettina Liano cardigan (a great score at a clothing swap); sore legs (while it hurts, it does mean I’ve been working hard!); installation art (see the pictures above for an example — swoon); my exercise DVDs (they have all arrived, yay, & as soon as my legs stop hurting I’m going to do one!); looking forward to butoh on Saturday; planning a mini-holiday (I’m going to take four-day weekend from tomorrow, woohooooo!); eating fruit (I’m doing only fruit today, at Karen Knowler’s suggestion, to boost my energy & perk me up); having long hair (YESSSSS) & fabulous weekend plans!
“The aim of life is to live, and to live means to be aware, joyously, drunkenly, serenely, divinely aware.” — Henry Miller
Now… your turn! Lay it on thick!
Super-love & cupcakes,

TiLT:
1. The return of Gossip Girl…seriously, that made my week
2. Singing!
3. Fantastic makeup artists who do things with brushes and eye shadows that I didn’t even know were possible
4. Hanging out with friends
5. My new sundresses
Things I love this Thursday (well it’s only been Thursday for 2 hours, 40 minutes here! but…):
iTC! – It’s so wonderful feeling I’m changing myself for the better and it makes me feel all warm and fluffy inside to think others are doing so as well, and that we’re all going to be better and happier people later.
EFT – I’ve just done another EFT session (see the iTC discussion if you want to hear any more about the reason I chose this) and there are strange shivers running down my back but what I’ve just tapped on doesn’t seem to be part of me any more. I feel lighter – like candy floss!
Teacher Strikes – Tehe, today is a teachers strike so I don’t have to go into school. That’s really good because it means I can spend more time with my brother who is visiting.
Honourable Mentions – Getting new notepads, teaching your friends how to do EFT, big hugs, loud music, holding hands, family reunions, singing and writing on post-it notes.
books in the mail, lastfm, making decisions and being happy about them, learning, 32 flavors by ani difranco, summer nights making you want to do mischievous things, montreal, my family, being happy and healthy, partaking in the iTC but feeling proud of what i accomplish instead of guilty for what i don’t
-The big exam is coming soon, that means that I’ll do it soon and that means that sooner I won’t be studying for it!! What an awesome feeling
-Facebook: the trend just hit my county, and I found that eventhough that most of people think is useful, IS NOT. Birthday calendary? THANK YOU.
-Not changing the way I think, eventhough in my faculty everyone things the other way. I don’t care what you say, I won’t become a conservative, catholic, alienated girl.
-Cachupin, which is the imaginary chihuahua my philosophy uses as an example for his explanations. 3 letters: LOL
-My bf, he’s cute :)
Things I Love Thursday
Yay! Its that time of the week again! Its come at a good time for me cause I am a little down… See if this can’t cheer me up!
My leg muscles They are SO sore from riding my bike to and from work! I walk in the door and I almost collapse they’re like jelly! Yowzer! And I’m riding and seriously thinking I’m gonna die! But I love it!
My Bike! I love love love it. My bum is not as sore as it was for the first few days now and I love having sore legs!
Plans Planning to go to America with a friend in a year and a half! Gives the future some perspective and something for me to look forward to.
Fruit Salad Great for breakfast! Healthy and delicious!
The iTC discussion page I love reading everyone’s comments they are so inspiring and encouraging.
I make myself sound like such a bike geek!
Can you eat dark chocolate on the Raw Diet?!?
OMG YAY :)
any other yummy things?
xoxo!
Good Luck everyone with the iTC Challenge!
Boyfriend Ah as always. He makes me laugh so much. It’s so cute because his laugh is so unrestrained, when he lets go he ends up in fits of laughter and can’t stop. Much love.
Not using my car as much Saving money (yay, as petrol is up to $1.89 in Auckland) and doing my bit for the environment.
School Holiday Kid’s Movies on during the day time. Yesterday, 101 Dalmatians. Today, Ritchie Rich! Brings back some memories.
Book Anticipation I am buying the new Phillipa Gregory as soon as I get paid.
Unfortunately, I have teh flu =( not cool.
yay! le tilt:
- being asked to model for an artist doing an angels theme, because “you have an angelic face”. awww.
- upping my intake of raw fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. while i will not label it as “going raw” my diet is currently (And it didn’t require much adjustment, which is great!!!) about 80% raw food. i feel much lighter – no food hangovers.
- my house. it looks like a 50’s prom dress hospital at the moment, and it pretty much is. they’re hanging everywhere, different pastelly colours, waiting to be mended in some way. my house is full of tulley poofiness!!
- my parents arriving for a visit in about half an hour :)
- planning exercise – starting some aerial classes. i haven’t done circus work in years, but it will be nice to do it again.
- looking at contemporary artists and getting hot under the collar, yo! there are so many fabulously creative people around right now! it’s awesome!
Juliet — Yes ma’am! Raw cacao nibs are best, but they’re quite bitter, so dark chocolate works too. Just check the ingredients to make sure there aren’t any milk products in there. Green & Black’s chocolate is aaaawesomeeeee, & they treat it at low temperatures so it’s good for raw foodists! Woohooooo! (It might not be strictly raw but it’s good enough for me…)
-douglas coupland. soooooo fantatsic. he makes me want to lick up books like they are soy white hot chocolate.
-kate nash. always and forever.
-local shows. seeing people i know and love loving what they do.
-red stripes and cigars on the patio. it’s that season again in canada and i. am. SO. excited.
-cuddling my very real puppy, samson while watching the O.C.
-starting bass lessons(finally). i’ve been playing drums forever and longed for those four strings. now they are finally mine. :)
Hey dollface – do your exercise DVDs NOW, while your muscles still hurt. Will make you feel better. I swear.
As for me:
The new Conchords album – I love them so much it’s just embarrassing. Especially the J-dog.
Pinnies – I love my pinnies! They’re dark denim and look kinda hospo, and they keep my clothes nice. Like slips, they bring out the Nana in me.
My trusty and well-beloved eyelash curlers.
Black eyeliner on the inside of the upper lid. Eyeliner always smudges and runs on me – this does it in a good way.
The new FQ issue – best one for ages. Fantastic photography, styling and clothes (the writing is as usual, 99% rubbish).
Big strong eyebrows – I’m so pleased they’re back in fashion.
Michael J Fox’s autobiography – I cannot stop reading it. It’s a productivity-dampener!
Socks! I’m gonna be all about the knee-high socks this winter!
My iCiNG tote and tank arrived today!! Will send you a photo Miss G!
This quote from the jaw-dropping Cary Tennis:
You are a child of the universe. You are made of the stars and the moon and the earth; you are a person, unique and unprecedented in human history.
You must assert this or they will take it away from you. Do not let them take this from you. It is not theirs to take. It is yours.
Kisses!
TiLT:
- Sex & The City (Can’t WAIT for the film!) – Exercising and still having so much energy afterwards! – Big bowls of Greek salad filled with olives and feta, yummy! – Grapefruit juice – Seeing friends for coffees – Planning my picnic in Kings Park! – eBay and etsy – Having a nice clean house :)
Honourable Mention:
JACK AND RHYS DANCING TOGETHER ON SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE!
I love them I love them I love them!
I am secretly wishing there will be a draw and they will both win :)
>Smooshy – my fake dog! he is fat and squishy and has the cutest face. my boyfriend and I treat him like a real pet and people think we’re crazy. good to see you have a fake dog too Gala!
>Butterscotch – in the form of lollies, pudding, schnapps, anything! mmm
>my new lace up black boots I got at vinnies for $15
>walking around in the pouring rain and laughing a lot
>drinking tea, watching the office and crocheting a scarf
I forgot to mention the book I’ve been re-reading – “The Shadow Of The Wind” by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. It really sucks you in and I just feel so warm and wintery reading it!
I also love how I got it – looking at the English section in a book shop in germany, when a shy, lanky German guy came over and said quietly “If you are looking for a good book, I really loved this book here…” then when he started talking about it he was so enthusiastic and really came out of his shell, so I had to buy it! and I’m so glad I did!
+ new glasses
+ superfast
+ friends
+ family
+ books
+ nice hair
+ spring
+ my dogs
+ art
+ creating art
+ doing well in school
I am lurving:
- Strawberries dipped in chocolate sprinkled with iCiNG sugar ;) – Heaven! The same goes for grapes. Have you tried this? So good.
- Challenging myself through the iTC! I haven’t been able to get out and run/ride my bike because it has been pouring rain here for about 2 weeks…but I’ve given up some of my favourite junk foods and it feels good! I’ve also convinced myself that strawberries dipped in chocolate are not junk food.
- My boyfriend comes back from holidays tomorrow! I haven’t seen him in 2 weeks and I miss him so.
- Borders…I could happily live their forever.
- Popcorn! It has replaced my number one vice, potato chips. And it only has one gram of fat per serve! So I feel ok about eating it. Heh.

Long weekends – Anzac Day on a Friday means a 3-day weekend! I’m hoping to have plenty of chances to curl up with my book…
Burlesque classes – so much fun and good exercise (my legs have been sore since Tuesday night!)

happy thursday spunkrats.xxoo
Okay, let’s see…
Spending time with Mom which is a rarity now that I’ve gone off to college. I spent about an hour and a half doing homework across the street while she was in an appointment, then she and I had lunch together and went shopping! Always fun, and I like getting her complete attention away from the craziness of the boys for a few hours.
New Stuff naturally. An off-white springy scarf, bright bright pink linen short sleeve button down, white/khaki pinstripe pants, and a pink and white striped cashmere cardigan. So fun.
iTC especially the discussion page, though it’s getting to where it loads quite slowly for me. Gala, any chance you could break it up into multiple pages for us? Perhaps every 100 or 150 posts? I’m thinking something like the Jezebel discussion pages if possible, where you can still see the main post no matter which page of comments you are on.
Talking to my best friend at home because she’s an amazing, inspiring person and I don’t talk to her enough. I think we’re going to hang out on Friday, can’t wait.
*marinated olives, yummmm
* the pink tulip tree blossoming in my backyard, showering large pinks petals across the lawn and making my backyard look like a fairy tale garden
*a dash of cinnamon in my morning coffee
*Pandora Radio
*finding out my sister is preggo
*Wuthering Heights with Laurence Olivier
*finding Hello Kitty Bento boxes at the dollar store! yippee!
Oooh Gala can I ask where in Melbourne you get dark chocolate-covered ginger? Sounds like what I need right now.
My list:
-The ITC. It’s going really well for me, I’ve not stumbled yet.
-Finishing a horrible Uni assignment and having nothing due for two weeks. Excellent.
-My skipping rope, I can measure my fitness levels increasing everyday, it’s brilliant.
-My dogs, as always.
-My Grandma. We went for coffee today and I found out that when she was a young girl she had a pony called Topsy!!
Considering how this past week has been for me, this shall be tough. But here goes:
Half Price Books I got some Stephen King AND Ira Levin (my fave!) AND a Sailor Moon tape for under 11 bucks! Score!
My Chococat plushie I’ve never been much of a cat person but Choco is my exception owing to A) a lack of claws and B)his amazing ability to double as a pillow.
N.E.R.D.—at Austin City Limits! PLUS what is generally the most amazing festival lineup ever. And I’ve got tickets!!!
Rose bushes at school Stunning natural beauty in what is otherwise purgatory.
Sailor Moon Magic, action, romance…and a bit of astrology. Perfection.
Bye bye!
I love that Fashion Week is coming up because I love Aussie designers and it is always cool to see what designers have come up with :)
Hooray!
- ROCK BAND. I’ve been playing the drums on Rock Band — normally I sing, but I’ve switched it up and started playing the drums, and it is a ton of fun.
- Going to events! I’m going to a party tonight and hopefully I’ll meet a lot of cool new people and make some good connections! I’m still trying to figure out what brightly colored tights to wear!
- Going blonde! Next week I’m going in and getting my hair bleached and toned — I’ve never had it done before!! My cousin (who does my color) says she wants me to look like Jean Seberg from “Breathless” (one of my favorite style icons), but I’m afraid I’ll end up looking like Draco Malfoy… Either way, it’ll be a change!
- And! My birthday is this Sunday! :D Hooray for Tauruses!
*Being ahead on uni work – i have an assignment due on Monday that i’ve practically finished: this is the most prepared i’ve ever been for a uni assignment! (i’m in 2nd year :D)
*Vegetarianism – today marks my 6 week anniversary of not eating meat and i’m so proud of myself. My skin is looking absolutely fantastic too!
*New music – i bought 3 cd’s yesterday and i’m loving discovering new favourites.
*Days off – tomorrow i’m not working (too old for public holiday pay) and it’s the first day in just over a month that i haven’t had to either work or go to uni or both! It’s going to be great!
things i love this week: – getting a summer job! i just heard from the woman who’s giving me a nanny position for the summer… I’m SO done with being a poor college student for a while!!
-flow. while working on my advertising project today, the time just flew by! I love majoring in something that i truly enjoy doing. – this gorgeous weather! upper 70s and sunny, yes please :) – dresses, dresses, dresses. – my french-manicured nails! ooh i wish they always looked this good. – cheeseburgers. sorry for those on a health kick, but i had one today and even though I looove my fruits and veggies, it’s such a tasty occasional indulgence. – gala’s purple brows! my eyebrows are darker but my hair is blonde, and people are always giving me crap for it. eccentric eyebrows get a resounding “hell yes” in my book. – atmosphere’s new album! gala, that made me SOOO happy!! I went straight to the website and I’m listening to the album right now – atmosphere is soo excellent. and what a great name for an album, it’s so uplifting haha. – the new beginnings that springtime brings. – planning trips. i’m going to israel/egypt and hopefully tennessee this summer for bonnaroo..all places I’ve never been! One of my life goals is to travel as much as possible, and I’m sooo happy that I’m on my way to accomplishing just that. :)
Have a lovely weekend, gala (and all fellow nonpareils)!
* Definitely the return of Gossip Girl! Jenny, when will you ever learn?!
* Dropping a class at uni. I’ll take it next semester and I think it will be better for my learning.
* My friends are, as usual, amazing, and making new ones is fantastic.
* Cheap shoes for painting on!
* $4.95 garter belts at Bras n Things in the city (upstairs, you Melbourne girls!)
* etsy things arriving!
* opaque tights under girly skirts! I love being able to layer in winter!
I’m having a hard time thinking of good things this week, its been stressful, I feel like a failure and the bad things in the news are getting me down. In saying that, I had the most wonderful day with my Mum yesterday which I enjoyed so much. And I have a wonderful boyfriend. And a lovely house.
There is a lot to be thankful for, sometimes it just takes Things I Love Thursday to make you realise that. Thanks Gala!
—Being open to new experiences…like actually talking to someone I don’t know. We now have a date on Friday night!
—And yes, I’m thankful for the date itself. It’s been a looooooong time since I’ve had any sort of dating action.
—Eating lots more fruit. I notice I just feel healthier.
—Drinking lots of water. Again, I just feel good.
—Fresh salsa from Trader Joes. DELICIOUS.
—Super long telephone calls with good girl friends. We may not live in the same city anymore, but that doesn’t mean we have to grow apart.
TILT-
Hanging With Friends – I never get to see them nemore as their at different uni’s and I finally found some time to catch up with them this week!!
Re Reading Good Books – I’m too broke to buy any new ones, so I’ve been re-discovering some old favorites
Gossip Girl- Yay It’s Back!
The weather finally being wintery mostly- I can’t wait to be able to wear winter clothes everyday!
my art exam is over! – so glad about this. it lasted three days and i’m not very good at art, so i’m really glad that it’s done with now.
zines – paper & print zines are the best. i got loads in the post the other day… not to keep, but to read and then pass on. i love them. especially peronal zines.
riot grrrl – huggy bear! bikini kill! revolution grrrl style now, etc! all good. lots of the zines are about riot grrrl.
london – going this weekend, very excited. i just love it, it’s such an exciting city and so different from anywhere else.
spring – i can feel summer on the way, and for once i’m excited.
* Sunny weather and remembering that people look so much fitter in the sunshine! Admittedly, being jealous at the people playing croquet when I’m working
* New bras coming through the post – fingers crossed they fit
* My Mac LiquidLast liner – that stuff will not budge, even with eyemakeup remover. It’s like a tattoo on my eyes. I only wear makeup for special occasions, so it’ll be well used at those.
* Handing in my dissertation
* Having a full crew again!
* Racing really well on Sunday
* Seeing Antonio Carluccio (no really!) give a masterclass in pasta at The Union and getting to try some of the stuff he made right in front of us. Simple things but so tasty.
- My Body Balance Class – I feel so good afterwards!
- Avocado, beetroot and cheese sandwiches for lunch – don’t knock them til you’ve tried them!
- Having a massive crush on someone who reciprocates – the suspense is killing me! (In a good way of course)
- Going grocery shopping tonight (payday whoo!)
- My adorable mother taking pity on my financial situation and taking me shopping on Saturday – She can’t bear me going into winter with the crap I have at the moment bless her.
Clear skin! I’ve been taking good care of my skin for the past few weeks — drinking lots & lots of water, washing & moisturizing my face morning & night, using copious amounts of sun block, eating as much fresh fruit & veggies as I can. & it paid off! I’ve never had serious problems with my skin, but this week has been entirely blemish-free & it has never, ever happened to me before. I love it! :)
This. Quiet mornings in our kitchen, studying with the window open & happy-go-lucky songs on the radio; feeling the sun on my shoulders & thinking this is good, thinking I just want to keep all these little moments safe in the palm of my hand. But then letting go because there will be more, surely, & this I know because of everything that goes on under my ribcage whenever I see you.
Old-fashioned murder mysteries! I borrowed The Oxford Book of English Detective Stories from the library & it is absolutely GLORIOUS. I love detective-talk & hidden clues & clumsy but trusty side-kicks who just never seem to understand anything until every aspect of the case is explained to them in great detail. Also, I love saying the case. Or the affair. Deliciously, delightfully old-fashioned.
& also: listening obsessively to new music, making an effort (in every possible sense of the word), wearing mascara again, going to Barcelona in less than a week (!!!) any excuse for new shoes, writing it down!
I LOVE my new high waisted skirt, so flattering, so sexy and so comfortable!! AND my new black double breasted wool coat, it is perfect, and was only $80 from Target!! AND they both go wonderfully with my bright red pointy heels!!
Today I also love,
having lunch with my lovely friend, her husband and their beautiful baby
knowing I’m going to have a fun 2moro night at my friend’s 21st.
getting dressed up in my new clothes and trying them with different accessories
Music I totally forgot how much i love music, how silly is that? i think i have to buy an ipod so whenever i want to hear something i don’t have to get asap to a recordstore to find out they don’t have the album lol
iTC Its good to have a routine again and be more conscious of everything and i love to read all the comments of my ‘sisters working for there goals’
Internet Tv Oh it felt good to watch the new Gossip Girl i can’t wait untill a new one comes out.. And i had to catch up on a few weeks of Greys Anatomy. Mmh and maybe some Chuck
And other things; strawberry&cranberry&banana breakfast/the colour blue and yellow/beaches/origami wich i try really hard but doesn’t look anything like the example/mails from people i met in japan/find any excuse usefull to order on internet/updating
1. I was walking down the Seine the day before yesterday and some kid was dressed like a beatnik reading Henry Miller and I cracked up laughing and muttered “Diana & Jamie forever”.
2. I got robbed at the pool and I didn’t even get angry or sad, just laughed and waited for my stuff to be returned, and it was!!
3. I went back to the pool and swam only two hours after being robbed there. Nothing makes me blue.
Oh my, those pictures of the light art are amaaazing!! So beautiful! I saw them and I went : Ooh, I’d have loved to see that installation in real life! and I looked at the names of the pictures and saw ‘kijkduin’ and realised that that installation was in Holland, only on 20 minute distance from where I live!! Sooo bummed that I didn’t know about it at the time!! They’re looooovely though!!!
Things I looove:
My best friend, Audioslave, cycling, birthdays, tea, cake, helping someone out, the english language, reading, painting, muuuuusic, Gossip Girl, apple juice, goat milk, my new doc martens!!, festivity, the colour pink, may holidays that start tomorrow!! :D, de Efteling (a Dutch fairytale themed amusement park!), Queensday (april 30th in Holland)
Those are the things that make me verrrrry happy today!!!
xxxx
Fleur!
My boyfriend
Everything’s more fun when he’s around and he encourages my weirdness. It was my birthday on Sunday and he bought me a nerf gun. (I should mention I’m 23) We spent the morning lying in bed shooting things and then when we got up, ambushed each other round the house. (Imagine my surprise when I was in the shower and suddenly had nerf bullets flying over the shower screen at me)
My house
After living with some strange people, I now have a house where I get on fabulously with everyone and it all feels like one big family. I love it.
Cooking
One of my challenges for the ITC is to cook for myself all the time. It’s been so long since I’ve really cooked and I forgot how much I loved it!
Sarah P -what’s a nerf gun? is that one of those potato bullet guns or something?!
TiLT!
-my boyfriend. he gets honorable mention today for putting up with me when i’m my most irritable & low. thank the Universe for him & EFT! THANKS BLAKE I love you honey xox
-the moon. it is so gorgeous & bright orange tonight
-the internet, even though my laptop has countless viruses & needs to see a PC Doctor
-lights. especially with dimmer switches, fairy lights, soft lamps… you know, the nice kind.
-music music music. thanks to my ears i get to ‘hear inspiration’
-painting. god how i missed you. now i am starting my first piece in over a year, what have i been doing all this time? I MUST FINISH.
-TiLT~ I just wanna say I love TiLT!
Natasja
Smilar to this > images.hasbro.com/common/image…
basically it fires little foam bullets with suction caps on the end.
Shooting a music video for my boy’s band
It was really fun and strange to dance to the same song again and again, in a living room covered with fake bricks wallpaper and strewn with zebra pillows I’d made. The video is not yet online of course, but you can listen to the song here if you like: www.myspace.com/famousbitchbar
Meeting in real life a wonderful girl met on the internet
It’s this afternoon! We’re having tea at Angelina’s, one of the best tea parlours in Paris. What shall I wear??
Wonderful week-end plans
Namely, spending four days in London. If the weather’s as beautiful there, it will be great. And even if it rains…
Long weekend – today at work was hectic, but I had the whole weekend (I’m going down south to stay with a friend) to look forward to.
Purring Kittens – I love my cats.
Getting emails back from authors that I love – I just read a book by Dan Waddell that’s coming out in Australia soon and I loved it so I wrote to him to tell him and he wrote back to let me know his next one is coming out next year and he’s glad I liked it. It’s so good when famous people take the time to write to fans.
Yoga and Pilates – it feels like I’m not even doing much until I try to get up off the floor or stand still at work and then move. My posture is getting better already.
roast zucchini with cheese – yum!
Happy Thursday Everyone!

My garden – trying to be sustainable
Glitter! fucking glitter and dressing up.
the number one thing i love today is st. jordi. i live in barcelona and on the 23rd of April we celebrate st george’s day and book day. so, the streets are full of book stands, and people and happiness. men give women roses and women give men books (for the most part!), so the streets are full of red roses and books (did i already say that?) and everyone takes the day off and finds some literary goodness.
unhappily i don’t have a man to give me roses (except my dad) so instead of moping about (as has happened other years) i decided to buy myself a rose and just looking at it makes me happy.

Planting mangrove trees at Jeddah’s beach yesterday—and cleaning up the beach. It was so casual & fun. We played volleyball when we were done. Plus one of the princes came and was helping out, and we didn’t even know he was a prince until he made made a small thank you speech at the end!!!!

Pateesa—it’s this pakistani white cotton candy kinda thing. Shaped like Swiss rolls. SO SO SO GOOD. My gran brought em for me :)
What I am grateful for this week:
My family: It is amazing to think that I have been blessed with this family. My Mum, Dad, brother and sisters are some of my best friends, and love and support me through everything. And we have this shared, sarcastic sense of humour which other people sometimes find offensive, but we give it and take it. :)
My grandfather’s memorial service: My grandfather died on April 15, and because he donated his body to science, we had a memorial service on Thursday. It was really lovely, filled with tears and laughs and lots of great people.
My new mattress: It’s amazing after not having a bed for a couple of months, how much you appreciate having a new mattress (even if it is still on the floor!) It’s actually made my room feel so different, and I’m busy decorating around it. I’m so glad I’m doing all this on my own, and I know soon I’ll have a fantastic room!
*My Vogue forums ‘friends’: They’re such a cute bunch of girls, and they share my obsessions and want to talk about them as much as I do. :)
*Josh Pyke ‘Sew My Name’: ‘You can’t outgrow something sewn under your skin, so I will always wear you well.’
