Things I Love Thursday
[ 20 August 2008 ]
The one, the only, the original Things I Love Thursday! Roll up, roll up, step right in!
New York anticipation! So, I was going to go back for three weeks — have a birthday shindig & hang out a bit & then return to New Zealand — but I was talking to my father about it & he said, “Well, I don’t see why you’d come back if that’s where you want to be”. Of course, he is right. So on Tuesday, I bought a ticket… with a return date of mid-November! Eeeeeee! I will have Christmas in New Zealand, because Christmas in summer is always really awesome, & then I will move to NYC in early 2009… Super-fantastico-insane-excitement!
Additional NYC things I love: Beastie Boys – An Open Letter To NYC (Chew Fu Refix) — honestly, every time I listen to this I get major tingles & I think my heart is going to burst out of pure rapture. It is THE BEST. Support Chew Fu, he is awesome & I love him (& we are totally going dancing when I get back)!
Getting tattooed!
Coney Island!
Sugar Sweet Sunshine!
A whole bunch of amazing fabulous people who make me smile!
Rooftops & porch swings!
Central Park!
Pumpkin picking in New Jersey!
The Egyptian Wing at the Met!
Decadent hotel room slumber parties!
Energy on the streets!
Hip hop karaoke!
Strangers who compliment you out of the blue!
Insane cab drivers!
Etc. !!!
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week — Hello, I am going this year! With a video crew! Gasp! I’m going to the Betsey Johnson, Erin Fetherston, Zac Posen, Anna Sui & Miss Sixty shows, & will be talking to people about their outfits, running around, & appearing on camera giving my impressions of the collections! & of course, it will all be going live on iCiNG! I’m so excited, & I hope you are too!
Awesome offers — At the time I’m in NYC, my friend is going to Canada & I was invited to go too! But unfortunately I had to go to a Betsey Johnson show. Unfortunately! Had to! Betsey Johnson! How amazing is that?! I am kind of bummed because I have never been to Canada & would really really love to visit, but, well, you know, there will be other opportunities! (I will make my way up there soon!)
Karaoke — On Tuesday night I went to karaoke with my friends Jo & Tim, & my brother. It was so much fun. I haven’t sung karaoke since I was about 6 years old, & now I am a confirmed addict! I want to go all the time! At first we just sat in the room feeling embarrassed & then I decided we needed to sing one at the same time to get over our stage-fright. Well, after that, it was ON! We were flicking through the books, choosing songs, shoving microphones at one another & “singing” at the top of our lungs! God, it was so good! Some of our hits? Forgot About Dre (complete with high whiny Eminem parts), I’m A Slave 4 U (complete with breathing & talking intro! ... “I know I may be young…”), Nothing Compares 2 U by Sinead O’Connor, Would by Alice in Chains, Malibu by Hole, Encore/Numb by Linkin Park/Jay-Z, & many more. It was totally awesome. If you have never been to a karaoke booth, I urge you to go this weekend. Seriously. Amazing.
Planning the Virgo Extravaganza — Yup, still! It is going to be taking up plenty of my brain power until it happens! The most exciting thing to me at the moment is the amount of people who are flying in for it! Talk about rallying the troops… It is mind-blowing to me! Doki doki! I can’t wait to see you all!
Hallowe’en in the USA! Okay, I think if you’re American you might not understand this. But for those of us who grew up in the antipodes, where hallowe’en was pretty much a non-event, hallowe’en always seemed like the pinnacle of awesome Americana. Especially if you were a voracious devotee of Sweet Valley High & Babysitter’s Club books… Oh Francine, oh Ann M. Martin, how you have ruined us for life! Anyway, my point is, I AM GOING TO BE IN AMERICA FOR HALLOWE’EN & my inner 8 year old is having a huge glee-induced heart attack! I don’t know who I am going to dress up as, the primary contender at the moment is zombie Little Edie. I would talk about being a s-t-a-u-n-c-h woman & dance with an American flag, it would be amazing!
Atmosphere in New York City! Oh baby. Life just gets better & better, I swear. Atmosphere are playing in Brooklyn on the 13th of October (a month to the day after my birthday!) & in NYC on the 14th. I am so there. Slug told me to email him for tickets but now I am too embarrassed… Hahaha. Regardless! They are playing all over the States so you should check the dates & get on it! Anyway, YAY! My favourite group in my favourite place. Picture me with a massive smile on my face & that is a fairly realistic approximation of how I am right now!
Honourable mentions: Surprise long-distance phonecalls; Int’l Players Anthem (& Andre 3000, of course!); luring people to New Zealand; reconnecting with old friends; IAMX; plotting birthday presents; 25 kisses (I want one kiss each from 25 people for my birthday!); “NYC misses you” emails; taking ridiculous photos; forming the secret society girl mafia; kneesocks; eating Mexican food with Rosie; getting my brother to sign up for dating sites (he is my pet project!); my mother’s wedding ring; the fact that I already have a bunch of events written down to take place during my NYC sojourn; sleeping for 11 hours (sometimes you just need to); organising for my parents to come to NYC in late September (!!!!!!!!); my favourite Turk; stretching & drinking orange juice!
“When I count what’s wrong with my life, I get totally depressed. When I count the good things, I feel like smiling and I do. Then I think, “well, it’s not all that bad.” Life is just a bowl of cherries. But when I see myself smiling in the mirror, I like myself more. Well, life is a roller-coaster. That’s what I now think. Recently, I got a message that I was a king, and I should stop the battle, and appreciate my victory. Well, I should listen to this one. And you, too, my friend. We are all kings. The battle is the battle of goodness winning WORLD PEACE. At all times, find something that makes you laugh. Laughter is the best workout! Chimpanzees are wise to it. Are you?” — Yoko Ono
Your turn, babycakes!
Love letters & feather headdresses,

just letting you know i love you and having the worst day and this was a good cheer up xxxxxxxxxx
Eeee! This makes me so jealous I’ve never been to NYC!
Things I love today:
Caramelattes, the fact that it’s almost Spring (!!!), commiserating with others about exams, planting pansies in my garden, Katy Perry (I have a total crush on her, haha), & warm chocolate fugde sundaes with extra sauce at Maccas.
You’re wonderful Gala :)
x
Oh God! Encore/Numb.
If I were to do Karaoke that would SO be my song.
Or Forgot About Dre. Those get a ton of plays while in the car…
TilT…
Sleeping. (I’ve been sleeping alot lately.)
Mumbling to myself in a horrible British accent. (I don’t even realize I do this sometimes)
And it’s not even Thursday in my part of the world.
(Only 57 minutes till…ha!)
Great TiLT, I really hope you enjoy returning to NYC!! (Halloween is the best!)
-parties!: I have several parties this weekend, including a formal one yaaay I loooove getting all dressed up!
-free time: this week my faculty is celebrating 120 years, with competitions, dances, stuff like that. I really don’t care about the competition, but having almost no classes is awesome!
-my bf’s dog: cause watching her trying to catch the light of a laser pointer is hilarious.
-hair cut anticipation!: omg I’m going to cut my hair short on friday, I’m so excited :D
New York Fashion Week live on iCing!?
Oh yes!
I too would have a hard choice between Betsey Johnson and Canada. ;) You should definitely make your way up to Canada at some stage. I moved here, to Toronto, from Christchurch in January and love it.
Things I love today:
My husband and our one year Wedding anniversary. He’s the reason I’m here!
xx
You should totally go to the Village Halloween Parade, it rocks!
Gah, Fashion Week? I am so jealous!
As someone who grew up in America, I advise you dress up in the most insane fashion you can think of. Make your own costume if possible. The last thing you want is to look like everyone else on the street!
Things that I am thankful for?? MY Virgo extravaganza starts TOMORROW. We are getting out of Portland and flying down to LA (have not been back since we moved to Portland a year ago) for birthday fun!!! I have been kind of dreading my birthday, but now the thought of seeing all the people I adore makes me ecstatic. We are going to the Magical Kingdom for my actual birthday on the 25th. Nothing sounds better than over-priced tickets to spend your 26th birthday at the happiest place on earth with crying kids and long lines.
Gala, you really amaze me. Your quarter life is just about to begin and I don’t see a crisis ahead of you. It seems as if you have your head on straight and you will just have amazing quarter life defining moments. Cheers lady. Keep rocking
amazing amazing market finds! a black fitted shirt-dress for $7, a chunky watch with a square face for $2, a camel trench for $5 and a ring that got stuck on my friend’s finger so the girl let us have it!
having enough money to do things like send my sister a spontaneous cheer-up card!
having enough money to get a battery put into my $2 watch!
spending exorbitant (for a poor starving student) amounts of money, and not caring because it’s a beautiful day outside and I need some cheering up!
observing a nearly-full bottle of wine on my desk with anticipatory glee!
a free benefit lip-gloss with glamour magazine! im a baby makeup junkie and was so full of excite!
Gala- as a Halloween devotee, I’m so excited you’ll be in the states for the holiday; you will LOVE IT! Make sure to scope out the pumpkin patches, apple-picking orchards and haunted corn mazes in NY state to maximize the Halloween goodness. I have a feeling you’d come up with one great jack-o-lantern design! Yours truly will be going as a pinup zombie.
On to things I love:
-Realizing a relationship is totally not what I want right now… diggin on my solo down time.
-Planning my birthday beach bash entitled “Beach Whores from Outer Space” going down at the end of the month. Virgos unite!
-Classes starting soon! Unfortunately, this will be my last back-to-school season… sad. Until grad school, at least.
-Adorable dates with a few different adorable boys… another perk of being unattached.
-Discovering the gorgeousness of peach blush and all it has to offer.
-Fall is coming! Along with the revamping of cool-weather wardrobe, leaves, hoodies, and best of all… Halloween!
-Finally perfecting the best ever strawberry lemonade recipe, and it’s low cal/low glycemic index so I can drink to my lemonade-loving heart’s content.
End.
YOW! I opened up flickr to have a look at that wedding ring…. holy mothera somethin’! If my mom’s ring looked like that, I would probably be a trust-fund baby with a private jet and a whole fleet of manservants or something :)
I love it! It’s incredible.
No disrespect intended.
Only one, yet again; I just moved into my freshman dorm room!
Gala, I love love love these super-inspirational TiLT posts. This one just seems more supercharged with awesome than normal, like you have so much enthusiasm that you’re sending a little bit to all us nonpareils. I love it!
Anyway, things I love:
x Moving to the city for university! 9 days, baby.
x Rainy summer days.. It’s like a nice little taste of autumn without the constant cloudy skies we get for 8 months of the year on the West Coast.
x Playing dress-up late at night
x I’m totally looking forward to getting my currently-shoulder-length hair turned into a ferocious choppy bob! Such a change from the mid-back length I had in June!
x Film noir photoshoots! #1 on my to-do list!
you and jenno are so hot
gala your skin is a dream you slag.
i love you both dearly
also your mums wedding ring is so shit hot.
good old pops, what a top man.

The view from my window – I work in a fairly boring, grey, cold office. Today I decided to put up with the glare and opened my blinds to look out on the most beautiful, sunny winter’s day, across a valley to the snow capped ranges in the distance. Needless to say, I have gotten very little work done today, due to spending obscene amounts of time gazing awestruck at this view.
30th Birthdays – Today is my lover’s 30th, and Sunday is our good friend’s, so tonight we are kicking off four days and nights of celebrations.
Silver Bullet – My ipod, which saves me from boredom and insanity at work, and also makes me work far more efficiently.
Impending Stardom – I am in the middle of a media frenzy right now, and it’s so exciting.
The coolest tattoo I have seen in ages – www.flickr.com/photos/punkrawk…
New babies – My friend has a new baby girl, and I get to go meet her next weekend. Prepare for clucking!
Yoko Ono is a god. Truly. I love her…
What’s this Virgo extravaganza thingy?!
I looooove…
@ Planning picnics!
@ Burlesque shows – 2 more weeks, woota, woot.
@ That feeling you get when you run in the pouring rain.
@ Listening to Bob Marley tracks first thing in the morning.
@ The anticipation of Earthdance (on World Peace Day!)
@ Cheap champagne :)

+ My sweet adorable boyfriend. We spent all day in bed today. All day.
It was beautiful.
+ Taco Bell cheese quesadillas. So delicious.
+ Jet black hair. Soon I shall have it.
+ “Waiting 4 U” by Chromeo. And my iTunes is creepy because as I was typing that the song came on.
+ My iTunes for knowing exactly what I want to hear today!
+ Boyfriend! So so much.
+ Virginia! Northern VA is just beautiful. Or at least what I saw of it, including Annandale & Fredericksburg & even Dumfries.
+ NYC cooled down! The temperature here has been lovely. Yay hoodies!

Sunshine peeking into my house! We live right next to an awful Massey accommodation block which has blocked sunlight all winter, but now that the sun is coming out more, we get a few nice beams into our living room.
Playing on a closed motorway, wandering down Cuba St and running around the waterfront at 2am. Sometimes you just have to stay up all night and do crazy things.
Watching the sun come up while wrapped in quilts and winding down with my best friends.
Being permitted to dress my friends who normally wear stompy boots and No Frills Ever in frilly pink clothing. Oh, I’m looking forward to it mightily.
Eating pancakes for breakfast at 4pm. Time to go make them…
Canada is a great trip, indeed! I suggest taking an Amtrack train up there. For about $50, you get a glorious 6-hour scenic train ride straight to the border. The little towns you stop in along the way could not be cuter, and you always meet fun people on the train.
x my boyfriend’s band is almost done recording their first album. yay! i can’t wait until they go on a tour and i can be his groupie.
x going to the beach instead of work this monday.
x planning my trip to montreal in october (my brother has just moved there and now if i ever want to visit the city, i have a place to stay)))
x the fact that school starts in less than 2 weeks!!!
Gala, your mom’s ring is absolutely gorgeous!
when are you coming to toronto???

Congrats on making your choice about moving Gala. Hope it’s great for you and I’m SURE you’ll tell us all about it xxxxx
Okay my TILT this week is eerily similar to last weeks. So I’m adding to my list.
+ Netflix. I’m going to watch Freaks & Geeks again after so many years!
+ iced oatmeal cookies.
+ the Las Vegas towel boyfriend brought me from Las Vegas! It’s perfect sized!
+ Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
+ Working where I work. My coworkers are amazing people. And they’re so pleasant to be around.
+ “Stop” by Jane’s Addiction
+ My friends.
+ The glorious mess in my room. There’s no space for me.
♥ Researching & then reserving books & DVDs, & then picking up my goodies from the library.
♥ Activia vanilla-flavoured yoghurt. Yummy.
♥ Playing DDR with mats.
♥ Writing in my journal. I do not know why, but sometimes if I have a headache or am feeling blue, writing in my Moleskine makes me feel instantly better.
♥ Re-discovering Doe Deere. :”>
♥ Watching Return of the Joker late at night. I wore my Skullcandy headphones so as not to wake el madre, it was so cool to be watching & hearing EVERYTHING on the screen while the world was silent. Haha, I am weird.
♥ Blood & Chocolate. It was so sensual & wrong & delicious. Like, I hated Aiden because he was supposed to be gentle & sweet but ended up being a jerk, & I hated Rafe because he was a jerk who ended up being, well, a murdering jerk, but I loooooooved Gabriel who looked like a jerk and wasn’t. He was muy hot (I don’t know why I’m using Spanish so much, because I suck at it!), even when Vivian hated him & he was still just an overconfident thug.
♥ Possibilities of going to Coney Island.
Pumpkin pickin is awesome! I have been hearing about it but never tried it in Jersey and am planning to visit soon. I love learning about new things to do in New Jersey. People make fun of Jersey all the time, but contrary to popular notion, there’s so much to do!
It’s so hard to find new things to do though — I also sometimes want to deviate from the usual of going to the mall, amusement park, movies, etcetera. I found this site that lists different events in New Jersey, and what’s great about it is that it lists hard to find events like fairs and festivals. It also lists the contact information of the event organizers. You also get access to the community who, like you are seeking events in New Jersey as well.
The site is www.kangalope.com.. Check it out if you’re looking for new things to do — sign up for frequent updates, too. I save time by getting the updates so I don’t have to log on the site every time.
hair modeling i was getting my bangs trimmed at vidal sassoon today, and was asked to be a house model! i’ll go in, get a crazy dye job and hip cut, then get paid to pose for photos. i couldn’t think of anything better.
straight a’s in the literature classes i took in england this summer!
neuhaus chocolates i have a box left over from belgium, and am slowly working my way through it.
school though my college is in an absurd colonial town, i can’t wait to return on friday, to move into my tiny fairytale house (overgrown garden and all).
you have a brother, gala?
Oh do I have a wonderful TiLT, considering that you’re going to the Betsey Johnson show…
New glasses. Betsey Johnson glasses, to be exact. Not sunglasses. My new prescription frames are Betsey frickin’ Johnson. Pink and black. The front is the kind of sexy librarian black nerdy frame, but just the very front. The rest of the frame is pink plastic, and the ear pieces have a black fishnet pattern running over the pink. And they have little heart cut outs at the end of the ear pieces! I haven’t found a picture online, but her glasses line is adorable. All sorts of cute funky plastic frames, great colors, nothing boring or plain about them. I love mine!
Project Runway tonight was SO fabulous. No better word for it. LOVE.
Move in day on Monday for my sophomore year has me so excited. I miss my friends, I miss my busy busy life at school, I miss having something to do every second of the day all the time. Move in on Monday, Frisbee practice and a party Tuesday night, lunch meeting about being a teaching assistant on Wednesday, classes start Thursday, tap dancing at the activities fair on Sunday… Can’t wait.
Matea — Well, selective coverage, but better than nothing! All with a distinctly Gala flavour ;D
Renee — Someone told me that earlier today! I’m so there!
PHobbs — I don’t think a quarter life crisis is my style, haha! I had my oh-my-god-what-am-I-doing-with-my-life moment at about age 21, now I’m just getting on with it ;D
Kelly Marie — It’s a beauty, huh? I’m in love with it. I want to steal it but I think she’d notice!
Annah — International travel is totally my bag… That + going to my favourite place EVER is enough to make me pretty excited! If I wasn’t excited, it would be a pretty sad situation!
xhellsbellsx — Top man indeeeeed!
A.J. Alexander — I have been meaning to go for ages. I will soon!
buy.my.love.with.chocolate — No idea! Some time… !
AbbyC — I have a super-cute friend in Jersey who is going to take me on some kind of Jersey super-adventure… I can’t wait :D
Clare — He’s my half-brother, & he just came out from the UK to live in NZ! So I’m learning to be a “sibling” after being an only child for 24 years. It’s interesting, haha. He is awesome, though!
Things I love…
+ Holding my 1 week old niece. She is just
7 lbs of happiness!
+ Driving with the top down in my convertible on these perfect summer days here in Chicago.
+ Cute summer dresses on clearance when there are still a couple of months to wear them!
I am sooooo excited for you that you are coming back to the US for the fall in NY!
I love a line from the movie ‘You’ve Got Mail’ about fall in NY. It makes me think of all the open possibilities of crisp fresh fall mornings… “Don’t you love New York in the fall? It makes me wanna buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils”
If you ever come to Chicago while you are in the US I would absolutely love to buy you lunch. Your blog is such a happy spot in my day!
You will love Halloween (one of my very favorite holidays) try to get into a neighborhood where you can see some adorable kids trick of treating… it’s the best!
One warning… some Americans can be very serious about how the flag is used (there are all sorts of details to American flag etiquette)and might think that you dancing around with it as a costume is disrespectful. I imagine that you would never do anything intentionally disrespectful to the flag but you might want to keep that in mind

I went to NYC not too long ago and one of the highlights was going to a Betsey Johnson store. It was amazing! I can only imagine the thrill of getting to see a runway show. Awesome!
so basically, my favourite thing today is the amount of exclamation points you used! your excitement is totally radiating from the computer, and it is awesomely infectious. i am uber-stoked for you, and all the amazing things you get to experience. and honestly, i love that.
Andre 3000 is so fierce. If I was a guy, I would dress like him.

Oh my god – email him! EMAIL HIM NOW! Good lord. Think of those who would LOVE to be able to email Slug for tickets . . . . ! Come on!
(Will post TiLT list later. Busy.)
I’m loving that good things are SO good that you don’t even count them to make the bad things go away :D Like all the ways I can wear my black tulle dress and pink & cream embroidered silk jacket, last-ditch efforts to visit Coney Island on a Friday night, how excited my friend is to make me her pet project the way you have your brother, and making rounds in the children’s section of the library (I love The Van Gogh Cafe by Cynthia Rylant)! Heeeee :P
P.S. TOTALLY e-mail Slug! Nonpareils, unite & rally! YOU GO, GALA!!
My boyfriend coming back from New York tomorrow! He’s been away for three weeks and I miss him sooo much.
Being told by my boss that, basically, I’m awesome.
Getting out of financial crisis (nearly) all by myself, by selling unneeded belongings. Apart from the money, it feels so good to have cleaned my closet!
My Brussels week-end, complete wih night dance extravaganza under the sparkling Atomium with super cute girls.
My new Dior sunglasses, bought on ebay for about a third of the store price :)
your excitement is so contagious :D
today, i love: layers and layers of dripping gloss enamel and linseed oil washes, ending up in sticky, glossy shots of pure colour. naked vegan carrot cake, wine and mary poppins parties! completely innocent of course. the trees are blossoming! there is a pink cherry tree outside my second story window.
that’s all i can think of because i have to gooooooooo!
The RAIN. It’s been raining practically non-stop today & I love it soooooooooo much. I was rain-dancing in the city today with my friend as we sang songs from the Buffy musical at the top of our lungs. Oh! So much fun!
‘Borrowing’ little bits of ribbon from my fashion class at school & tying them around my wrist. My school has an all-mighty collection of ribbons :D.
My new book. I’ve been looking for it for ages and I got 30% the price. Just looking at it sitting next to my bed makes me smile.
My now-becoming regular wagging date with my buddy. We both agree that there is no point in our last two classes on Thursday so at lunchtime we march off to the city to get maccas then sit in a cafe for an hour & a half. It really calms me, and I come back on Friday refreshed & focused. I swear, skipping can be healthy.
The story that is brewing up in my mind. This happens a lot. I have a particular character in mind that I can’t wait to get on paper. His name is Mercedes, more commmonly known as Merc… and that’s all I have time for, folks!
Oh & Gala. Go on & email Slug for those tickets! You know you want to!
And I forgot this one: ordering my copy of “Coilhouse magazine”! Can’t wait to receive it!
+ Chicken satay sticks from the local bakery
+ Jean Howard, our guest lecturer today. Was really interesting to hear a feminist reaction to “The Revenger’s Tragedy” and Shakespearean work
+ Wheatie bags… perfect for my frigid little tootsies on these NZ winter nights

+ The circus! I am going on Saturday night and I am ridiculously excited… I haven’t been since I was five.

+ Finishing two of my four assignments currently coming due… what weight off my shoulders!
Squee! Virgos are the bestest! (And not just cause I’m one as well!)
I’m eagerly planning my birthday shenanigans as well, and my best friends are all coming down from t’North to visit for the weekend. I’m counting down the days!

Things I love Thursday!
My new favourite New Zealand export (besides you, gala)— Flight of the Conchords! Listen to this song and tell me it’s not the catchiest thing ever! www.youtube.com/watch?v=pY8jaG… My new red nailpolish J17 ‘double decker red’, it’s perfect!Sunshine for the first time in a month!
Oooh, Betsey Johnson and IAMX? Nice. I’ve re-discovered Black Wire, and a guy who I’ve seen at loads of festivals and gigs over the past year or so added me on MySpace last night [after a long and lengthy search, he found out my name when he saw a picture of me in the local newspaper!] and he’s lovely.
oooh, I haven’t done one of these in ages! Here I go:
- I’m going to Amsterdam with my two best friends in a couple of hours!!!!!!
- my new appartment, it’s a small attic place with roof windows, super cosy and perfect for me:)
- my new boyfriend, he’s cute and romantic and I miss him!
- chocolate with sea-salt, yum!
My favourite thing in the whole world — resolving differences. Taking the first step and apologizing. Looking at what I did and admitting that I screwed up. Admitting wrongs doesn’t have to include self-abuse!!
Knowing that I’ve only got a little bit of work to do on my first essay in about 3years – just worried about my marks!! haha.
Getting cooked dinner for the 2nd night in a row! (though I have to say my idea for dinner tonight was rather unoriginal)
My friend Jo at my favourite shoe store because she always shows me shoes I love! The only thing is trying to justify another pair of heels… hmmmmmm.
Getting some old trousers of mine altered I lost heaps of weight but now can’t fit two of my favourite work trousers – so I’m doing it tomorrow with one of the ladies I worked with in Parnell. It will be like having two new pairs of trousers!
The new BRIGHT FUSHIA PINK girls shirt I bought today it is seriously bright pink. I had all of Dressmart looking at me in many odd ways. But they obviously don’t own this bright pink shirt.
my bed it was difficult getting out of bed but still…. I heart my bed.
Speaking of massive smiles, a few TiLT’s ago I told you how my friend and I won a competition to meet Panic At The Disco.
Well, their concert was last night and Oh. My. God.
It was the best night ever!! They are sooo good live and all the support bands were awesome! Their super nice too. And soo cute in person! Eeek! I still can’t stop smiling every time I think about it. They were incredible!
And the hightlight of the night? When Brendon Urie put his arm around me!!!
I’m still squealing right now.
Today is right at the end of a tiring, stressful, emotional week that I’m putting down to a test of character or something. That being said today I could NOT stop smiling. It’s like I got bored with being overwhelmed and called do-over. I like it.
Also loving :
Black Kids – Party Traumatic;
Ting Ting’s – Great DJ;
Usain Bolt, fastest man on the planet.. he made the rest of them look like they weren’t even moving. like woah;
My new cushy hoodie.. warmest thing ever made I swear;
Realising that I don’t feel right NOT studying law and that even though people keep telling me I’ll get bored with it not being a creative career path, maybe, just maybe I can do it my way;
The boy I’ve been friends with for years that looked at me in ‘that other way’ last night;
The lightning bolt that I’m going to look back at him the same way next time I see him, rather than being completely gobsmacked like I was last night.. oops.
Don’t you know Little Edie doesn’t like the thought of anyone portraying her?! Lol, but I’m sure you’ll do a fabulous job…
I’m happy for:
Peach mango licorice – tastes like lotion in the best way
Watching Project Runway with my mom
Weekends! A classic
Pina Coladas
The Jaquie Brown Diaries – so funny! Honestly, during the part where she was mopping up her blood nose with a feminine hygiene product, I laughed so hard I nearly fell off my chair.
Emails from a fellow nonpareil. Finding out that there’s a 2-person chain of connection between us. This is life in NZ! (Lesson: always put your website on your comments, even if it’s just a work website.)
Chatting up the chemist lady about her cute outfit (pink cardi, white cami, amazing pink Swarovski necklace). Her: “you’ve made my day!”
Teaching my mums’ ballet class the preschoolers’ ‘Fairy Ballet’ dance. They were AWESOME! It was so much fun!!
Going to work to teach a Pilates class all cranky and aggravated, and feeling a million times improved as a result.
Synchronised swimming – it’s so impressive (I don’t care what anyone says). Also the gymnastics showcase last night – wow.
Oooh I can’t WAIT till NZ cleans up at the Olympic BMX tomorrow!
Annie Spandex — Tell it to Drew Barrymore ;D
My GCSE Results I actually cried when I got them. My mum almost took me out she was so happy
Talking to my best friend I spoke to her by text and phone for almost all day yesterday, even at 1 this morning when I couldn’t sleep
My trip to Bath I’m so excited, everyone’s told me there’s cute little boutiques everywhere.
Silly dreams I am dreaming way too much about a certain boy
Camping I went camping for the first time and even though there was torrential rain and we slept in a village hall in the end it was so cool!
Gay guy He kept me sane through camping. I’ve never met someone that made me laugh so much. Any thing he said made me wet myself! And omg his scream was hilarious!
Oh my dog, I am such an idiot! I was on my google reader and thought ‘Things I love Thursday? It’s only Tuesday!’. Then I realised it actually was Thursday…
Which is good I suppose because it means it’s 1 week tomorow until my holidays in Scotland and Italy!
Soooo TiLT!
~ Dracula!! I’m reading this for my Sci-fi module in uni (how geeky yet great does that sound?) and I love it so far.
~ Pay day! Woo! Treating myself to new shoes and stuff for my holidays. So superficial, I know, but I deserve it after a month of working more than I have all year.
~ Holiday and puppy anticipation! I go to Scotland for 1 week, get back on the Friday then go to Italy on the Saturday morning. And when I return on the 13th September, we will have a new addition to our family, a new yorkshire terrier puppy called Nina! flickr.com/photos/afeitar/2744…
First I would just like to say, I CANNOT WAIT to see your Betsey Johnson coverage – she’s my favorite designer!!!
Second, Things I Love This Thursday: *Getting paid to have a summer outing at a country club during work hours- my new job is awesome!
*Catching up with friends I haven’t seen in a while
*What a rockstar my boyfriend is at his job
*The thought of starting my ipod over from scratch and filling it up with brand new songs I never listened to before
*Betsey Johnson’s house in Mexico
*Working in Union Square- I love the area
*How amazing the weather has been in NYC- Come back soon Gala!
xoxoxoxo *
I spent 5 days in Sydney with my boyfriend and it was amazing. While Sydney itself was average (good to see old friends but crap because of stuff like someone breaking into our hostel room and stealing my boy’s wallet and witnessing a hit and run accident.), the most awesome part was just being with him all the time. We didn’t get sick of each other at all – in fact I think we’re even closer for it.
Since we got back and he went to his place, it’s felt like a part of me is missing, even though I’ll see him again in a few days.
Our next trip is to Japan, in about 2 months. Then, if all goes well there, he’s going to move in with me and it will be all kinds of awesome.
I am also loving the freelance work my agency got me this week (an absolute BREEZE! compared to the last place they sent me. The last place are still hassling me to fix problems with their website, two weeks after they ran out of money to pay me).
I love the huge bowl of bacon and pumpkin risotto i cooked and just practically inhaled cause i was so hungry.
- getting my first job at an amazing cafe owned by lovely people but still being extremely scared and nervous.
- catching up with old friends.
I need to do TiLT to snap me out of my bad mood week!
Love goes out to…
Being obsessed with going to the gym and running, such a good aggression fixer and constructive way to spend free time!
Looking forward to reading more of your New York adventures! Cannot wait to see your take on Fashion Week shows, your descriptions are so quirky, original and entertaining.
Clinique Superbalanced foundation in “Alabaster” – fair-skinned sisters, this one is for us! I’d not used foundation for years because the formulas were icky and colours always too dark. This foundation is incredible, though perhaps it’s all the excercise & raw food that’s making my skin glow!
Having the weekend off from work – weekends are for brunches and bonking, not slaving away inside!
A big TiLT is TiLT itself – thank you for snapping me out of my misery and reminding me life is beautiful!
+ Being in my 8th consecutive month of Winter – Canada, now back home in New Zealand… So I’m going skiing this weekend to Mt Ruapehu!
+ Moringa Body Butter from the Body Shop. It smells DIVINE, and the scent lingers for so long which makes you feel just lovely.
+ You can’t beat muffins but citrus fudge slice is number one for me at the moment.. And dipping my finger in the condensed milk and eating that straight from the tin while I’m making it!!
+ Things I love Thursday – I have only just discovered you Gala but all you guys make me feel so happy reading what makes YOU happy.. It’s really cool!
+ Metrostation’s song ‘Shake It’ makes me SO happy at the moment, I just want to dance all night
+ Looking forward to giving my mum tickets for us to go to the ballet to see Don Quixote in November!
xx

Going to my best mate’s tonight and gettting my tarot read.
Slowly but surely finessing plans to go partly self-employed.
My volunteer job working kids on a summer play scheme. Great fun and I get to do stuff like day-glo ten pin bowling and doing pottery.
Actively working on myself and beginning to see the results. Sort of a work in progress if you will.
Planning to move away to go uni next year, filling in the forms are boring, but moving away is exciting. And I get just came across your posts on moving away. Result!
Waiting for the new series of ‘Spooks’ to start on BBC1 next month…more specifically, new Spook, actor Richard Armitage. (Excuse my cheesy grin here).
Making plans to see David Tennant in either ‘Hamlet,’ or ‘Loves Labour Lost.’
Reading poems by Lord Tennyson…
I love...
my goldfish- who passed away yesterday
my friends-who love me enough to come to his funeral
my cat- who has spent the morning looking at the now empty bowl, confused by the absence
opportunities; not having hayfever, writing things I love every day in a little notebook; Russell Brand and Noel Fielding; the radio; room painting; red nail polish; walking into town; going back to school; birthday preparations (4th September is my actual birthday and I’m at school so I’m celebrating on the 2nd); coming home from Yorkshire.
listening to my boyfriend sleep just before the alarm goes off.
my cats curling around me when i don’t feel good and have had to come home sick from work
writing knitting project patterns
not needing air conditioning anymore
already having my Halloween costume picked out!
I love the sun, glitter, gettng a job interview for a new job, stirfry, potatos, nice people, being told i have a lovely smile, i love my family… sometimes and I love picnics. and vanilla perfume and Jsmine’s in my room making it smell devineeeeeee!!!! XOXOXO
Things I love…
Planning far-away trips: My boyfriend and I have decided that, as soon as I finish uni and he can accumulate enough time off work, that we should travel Europe together =]
Taking a step in the right direction: I changed my uni degree. I was really unhappy doing databases and such, and now I’m doing my two favourite subjects!
Blasts from the past: A friend from primary school found me on Facebook and it’s been awesome to catch up with her!
Unexpected cute moments from friends: I told my friend (who works on the floor above me in the shopping centre) that I was working today, and she came by to see me, but I wasn’t there yet, so she left me one of her Panda biscuits =]
• Surprise afternoon teas of cupcakes and decadent delights I arrived home on Sunday afternoon from a tiring day at work to find that Grandma and my Aunty had come over for afternoon tea. When I walked out into the kitchen I found the table beautifully set with Gran’s old plates and a beautiful spread of cupcakes and matchsticks. It looked so beautiful and tasted great too! Grandma had made some of the cupcakes for us, but I was even more excited that Dad had also made some for his afternoon tea that he had to attend. We had an informal competition to see who’s were the best. Grandma’s icing was the best, while Dad’s cakes were the moistest and most creatively shaped after they all slipped when he was putting them in the oven, so most were square instead of round!
• Being organised The last few weeks I haven’t been as organised as I usually am, and I think it was mainly due to having an attack of the “lazies”. This week I have come out of my slump, made and attended the appointments that I have needed to attend and I have done the chores that I had put off. This included washing and pressing all of my linen, having a big air out of my bedroom and putting all of my clothes away. I now have to sort through two bags of old clothes that are in the bottom of my wardrobe, but I think I will leave that job until next week.
• Seeing friends Last week while I was having a bit of a hard time I told myself that this week I would catch up with some uni friends that I haven’t seen for a couple of months so I made some coffee dates and had lovely chats and drinks with them. I also had an impromptu afternoon tea at home with a work friend after we had gone shopping and then had a big walk to burn off the hot chocolate and biscuits!
• Picking up extra hours at work After finding out that my tax return is not going to be as much as I expected and was counting on, sometimes it’s good to be able to easily pick up an extra shift quiet easily as I am the dependable person who always helps out!
- the fact that you have iamx in YOUR tilt! i am so glad you’ve discovered them!
- seeing old friends from high school, and the fact that within five minutes of being in the same room we all revert back to the same hyperactive fifteen year olds we always were, making lewd jokes and dancing to bad music.
- becks. finally, i have discovered a beer i can drink!
- seeing old friends who have been in canada for a year! so awesome.
- teaching my mum how to use msn and skype…seriously, so cute.
Reading this made me want to bounce up and down in my seat a little – you are so like a cute excitable puppy, Gala! (In only good ways. I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t pee on the floor if you got too excited..)
Today I am loving everything, but especially cute babies, hot showers, warm fingerless gloves, the TAINTED number plates I saw today and finally getting to talk to the boy, even if it was only for a few seconds.
sophie~ !!!!! I am so indebted to you for introducing me to them! Do you have any other sleazy bands I might like? ;D Also, IAMX are playing in NYC in September & I am SO THERE & cannot WAIT!!!!! ARGH!
Song — Haha… Your comment made me laugh!

New shoes: Arriving today, after a week’s wait!
The MN State Fair: Alpacas running obstacle courses, beauty queens getting their likenesses carved out of 50-lb blocks of BUTTER, deep fried candy bars on sticks, and endless, amazing people-watching. Bless.
I’m stoked you got into karaoke haha! My song repertoire includes “New Pollution” by Beck, “Spiderwebs” by No Doubt, and “Come Together” by the Beatles. And “I’m a Slave 4 U” is so fun with all the heavy breathing!
I can’t wait for you to come back to the states so I don’t feel a day late on all your posts! ;)
hi there!
i love when you see something you really like, but aren’t sure if you can pull it off, then go for it anyways. the confidence it gives me when i wear something out of the ordinary (for myself, at least) makes me feel awesome!
that being said, and yes that was a blantent intro to my question haha, what would you wear with jewel toned purple skinny jeans? i have these great grey boots to wear with them, and they can also be worn (if i tuck them up a bit, since i’m short!) with flats, but i’m not exactly sure what other colors i can wear with them, or accessories, or how much is too much!
xxsara
Fixing up my Flickr – I’m trying to get photos with my crappy cell phone camera! I am rustfirefly; add me and I’ll add you!
Getting better at Russian – these 4 years of learning are paying off! I can even say “Do you have disposable diapers?”, haha (which is, by the way, “у вас есть бумажные пелёнеки?”)!
Wes Anderson flicks – at this point, I have seen all but ‘Bottle Rocket’. I am sufficiently white now!
Looking like a schoolgirl – but not in the slutty Halloween way.
Embracing the cold with glee – because I’m sick of warm weather. I want to don my knee-socks and hold my boot-clad feet high, goddammit!
NYC Fashion week will be so much fun. I cannot wait to hear about it on all the websites…especially yours.
Today the things I love are:
My amazing, beautiful, supportive, and positive friends!!!
California!!!—I am returning to California on Saturday to complete my undergraduate degree. I am so excited for my last year!
Heath Ledger—I just got around to watching THE DARK NIGHT...and he did such a good job in the movie. RIP.
Volunteering..this summer I volunteered as an English teacher to Spanish speaking immigrants. Yeah, I helped others but really it was so enriching for me. really!
Believing that the universe IS conspiring in my favor because it is! I have two job interviews to do similar work that I was doing this summer for the school year and I am excited. I am not even in SF yet but because I stay positive things are bright for the now and the future.
happy days to all icing readers and to you, Gala! :)
right, gala, i’m going to make you a fabulously sleazy electro mixtape :D and you MUST see them live! they’re one of the best live bands i’ve seen in a long time. think electro cabaret…
Hi waves I’m new to your site but I did TiLT anyway for the first but hopefully not last time. Since it’s my husband’s birthday, today’s entry focusses on him :) It’s here: http://clumsykisses.giraffeonastick.com/?p=218
today i love…
my spanky new springcourt sneakers and the fact they took just one day to arrive.
the internet, it thrills and excites me on a regular basis and i just feel so amazingly lucky to have it as a resource.
my new place, it’s fab.
my beautiful boy who goes to ridiculous lengths to please and provide for me.
my infant blog and the fact it has already inspired people:

It is cool and cloudy today which makes me anticipate the arrival of fall and my favorite holiday, Halloween, which always makes me want to ready scary books
~ Realizing that I am truly addicted to iCiNG (IP address hit contest, anyone?) and that my life is better because of it!
~ Said realization empowering me to take the (very few but so hard to grab in my hectic schedule) minute to do my very first TILT!
~ BURNING MAN!!! And the gigantically ruffled gold tutu I scored at the thrift store!
~ My papillion baby, she brings me so much happiness and love. I will miss you next week Sophie!
~ New slouchy boots that are sooo comfortable! And the fact that somehow, even though they have no heel, my legs still look good!
~ Finally feeling able to pull off a headscarf! And such a headscarf! Black with purple foil butterflies emblazoned on it!
~ New panties! They are so pretty and lacy.
~ My boy becoming a vegetarian too! 1 week strong!!
~ My vintage faux fur coat I ordered online being delivered just in the nick of time.
~ Realizing that I have so many TILTs when last week I could not think of a single one. Depression = discontent. Thank you iCiNG for helping to banish the sadness! TILT is more powerful than I ever knew.
Before I do my list, I have to say how interesting it is to try to picture Christmas in the summer. Being from Colorado, I don’t consider it a successful Christmas unless there’s snow on the ground. I was actually thinking about this just the other day, and then you reminded me of it here… one Christmas I need to go somewhere warm and sunny, just to see what it’s like. ( I was in Hawaii one Thanksgiving, and that was pretty odd…)
And now, my list:
~ Harry Potter books. And Harry Potter books read by Jim Dale. I have read these books too many times to count, and am now on the 7th book in audio version. Jim Dale does such a wonderful job reading, with so many different voices for all the characters. It’s such a great way to pass my time whilst doing boring things at work! (and can I just say I want a house elf more than anything!?)
~ Summertime. I’m starting to miss the summer, even though it’s still here. I can see fall right around the corner, and with that, less sunshine. I’m going to treasure these last weeks of very late sunsets, and take as many pictures as I can, to help get me through the dark months.
~ The Universe. I probably put this in all of my lists, but I just love it so much that I can barely comprehend it.
~ Concerts at Red Rocks. G. Love is coming up soon, and I’m excited to get in at least one more before the season ends.
~My friend Katie’s new baby boy, Luke! He’ll be a week tomorrow… I got to hold him at 1 day old (!!!) Man, holding new babies is like tonic for my soul.
My roommate being away on vacation – leaving me with free reign over the apartment.
Neil Young concert tickets.
The Big Sky Garden Railway – a few hours away from my city I discovered the Canada’s largest garden train set and I’m going back to explore this weekend!
A good nights sleep!!! I’ve been going pretty hard and strong for the last three months and collapsed in bed last night after turning my phone off.
New job – though I’m still terrified to tell my boss that I’m leaving!
Still loving my harp!
-my bicycle and accompanying messenger bag
-changes. They’re good for me. I’m sure of it.
-prompt emails
-Patti Smith
turning 21, having pale skin, the opal ring my mom sent me for my birthday (!!!), mini wedges of brie, receiving my deposit money from my last apartment and opening a savings account, my new sneakers (black, teal, and purple), social networking, knitted cupcakes, X-rated liquor (it is pink and tastes like “blood oranges, passion fruit, and mango”) mixed with squirt, the ladies who run the taxi service i use here, making leaps and bounds in my relationship lately, the excitement of the school year about to start again…
- NYC anticipation for me, also! I’ll be moving there in Dec/Jan and I couldn’t be more excited!
- new (red) sheets
- Cleaning the apt and packing. Not usually something I would look forward to but I’m in the mood to start fresh and I need to organize for the upcoming move.
- The Saddest Music in the World. Got it randomly and for only $3… just an amazing film.
- September Vogue. Always my favorite issue of the year.
Gala, i believe you and NYC are an unbeatable combination! CONGRATS!
Finding that painful experiences can be just as enlightening as anything.. work is killing me.. and yet.. it’s satisfying somehow
Tropical Storm FAY.. a pain, annoyance.. and yet.. my yard is getting watered and things in general are a a crawl.. making everything more manageable..
Music.. continually blessing me
getting to go with Cirque La Nouba with my new UK friends on their last nite in town.. really amazing..and even more so.. discovering one of my friends was playing drums that night and another friend is one of the stage manager there…. killer!!!
my best friend and musical partner in crime for the continued calm perspective and demeanor, in contrast to my worrisome nature.. thanks for being there for me.
all my wonderful friends, whereever you are, thanks for being in my life.
Tough week, but I’m sure I can find plenty to love still!
TiLT:
1. Books. Breaking Dawn, old French literature, A Bried History of Nearly Everything, Going Solo by Roald Dahl, even textbooks. Plus I love how bookstores smell.
2. This website. Especially when times get harder, this website is a major force in making me hold my chin up and keep going and be as charming and lovely and exuberant as I can possibly be while I’m at it.
3. My backpack. It just makes me feel better about everything :)
4. History…especially ancient history. I just find it so fascinating to learn all I can about how people lived and what they wore and what their values were and why they fought and who was ruling.
5. My new full-length mirror, even if it is crooked.
6. Getting to know new people.
7. Being busy.
i’ve made an icing-inspired poster, suited for my TiLT post: sweetfancytreat.blogspot.com/2…
And my list:
-listening to music that gives me enrgy
-headbands
-drinking tea and reading books
-vanilla scented candle that smells incredible
-early mornings
-long manicure sessions
-anticipation
-cool T-shirts
thanks as always, gala! xo
LA LA LA
i love the phrase ‘pumped to be alive’ which i just read on my LJ friends list regarding a man who had a glitter stripe on his wifebeater
i love highly attractive boys whose ill fitting clothes, terrible haircuts and bandy legs only serve to make them even more knee meltingly gorgeous
i love melty knees
i love FESTIVALS! festivals in the europe are the best in the world! going to one tomorrow! woo! and i get to see three of my favourite girls! and have a birthday picnic while i’m there! double woo!
i love waiting until you’re really hungry and then eating an enormous packet of chilli corn chips and red pepper hummous
um oh and i love sorting out travel! my flights to NZ are almost all booked, WEIRD! haha. WEIRD! but good.
Also!!!! The weather cooling down – allowing me to reorganize my closet and apartment in comfort!
Olympics I still love them. Real life super-humans! The mere idea of a 10k swim is enough to make me knackered. I’m especially loving Usain Bolt (who isn’t?) and Yelena Isinbayeva. I’ve always adored her and this article articulates my feelings perfectly – www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/spor…
Yoghurt+fruit for breakfast I’ve always been a complete cerealholic (I would have eaten it for all three meals if possible) so my sudden loss of love for it is almost scary, but yoghurt and fruit hits the spot perfectly!
Well-kept surprises my mister took me out for a fabulous day of joy in London and kept every part of the day a surprise right until the very last second, even chucking out a few white lies to throw me off scent! What a lovely boy.
Olive we’re looking after my cousin’s male guinea pig, Olive, and his squeals of lust for our female piggy Meep have been keeping my family amused for the past few days.
Warm rain cycling home from work the other evening I got caught in a rainstorm, big fat warm drops coming down really fast. Getting wet on the way to work sucks, but a bit of a shower on the way home is fabulous.
Well well, today I’m very happy because I just had my interview for hopefully get a scholarship from the fulbright program! Yeiii!! And Gala, thanks! because I think that reading your website daily (once…twice..or more) really improved my english.
Also, I have a job interview in the afternoon. Two interviews in one day. The results of being positive.

Gala, any other great blogs like yours and nubbys you can recommend?
Yay, Thursday is here again!
This week I am loving:
my new bright red Moleskine diary – I’m so excited about filling it with events (I already have the England cricket team’s matches for the next year in it), and the stickers. Oh my word, the stickers :D
changing my fountain pen from blue ink to black – I feel it makes me look more grown-up, less schoolgirly.
Chinese food – I know it’s hardly healthy, but it’s delicious all the same :)
EFT – I’ve made a list of things to tap on and am hopeful about the results. I just need a bit of peace and quiet to give it a proper go, now :)
And last but by no means least,
my boyfriend – we spent 12 hours watching the Olympics the other day, and despite me not being a huge fan of sport (apart from cricket, obviously) I quite enjoyed it. His company improves just about anything :)
Fran, once you cut your hair short you’ll never go back!
Things I Love:
-New Music & Filling Up My 80 GB I-Pod (I’m currently obsessing over Atmoshphere thanks to Gala!)
-Starting School Again & Hoping I Make Some Friends In A New Place!
Nothanson.netmy sanctuary-Playing dress up
I just thought I would say… I love you guys!
Hair – My best friend put in swishy sexy hair extensions for me last night/today. I finally have the long flickable red hair I’ve wanted for ages.
Girly Nights In – Even better when they last the whole next day!! Oh how I’ve missed having girls to hang out with! We did our hair (see above) and watched Sex & The City.
Culinary Experiments – Favourite new thing: shallow fried potatoes with chopped onion and salami and a generous splash of balsamic vinegar.
For the pinnacle of NYC Halloween madness, check out the parade in Greenwich! Everyone is in costume, even the spectators. You’d love it!
Now, my TiLT:
-getting ready to start school again
-moving into my new apt in Brooklyn on Monday
-“the three C’s.” I’ve been listening to Crystal Castles, Chromatics, and the Cool kids nonstop for WEEKS now. Also feeling Digitalism (Idealism and their Kitsune Tabloid mix), and Hot Chip.
-the pillows I knit with recycled sari silk yarn. They’re so colorful! Check it out, it’s hand spun and helps give jobs to women in Nepal and India.

Hi Gala!
I have a wee article request and I would looove it if you could point me in the right direction!!
I have recently acquired my first ever debt card and can now buy stuff online-yay! But the variety is overwhelming, do you know of any good review sites for makeup/skincare/haircare products etc, from regular people?
Lulu — www.makeupalley.com ! Sign up for an account & then get into the product review section! It’s totally brilliant. Have fun… !
Yeiiiiiii I’m more happy! I got the scholarship!!!!
1. i also love karaoke in private rooms…i think that’ll be part of my birthday plan next month.
2. when my friends recommend the perfect music—at the moment, nevertheless by christine fellows.
3. watching the polar bears, the giraffes, the meerkats, and the camels at the zoo.
4. really good grilled cheese sandwiches.

~ That my new passport finally arrived, so i can get on with booking my boyfriend’s and my flights to Melbourne at the end of the year!
~ Tax back :D
~ Being told I could be in the running for Dux, and making major headway with the big projects that, previously, kept me from sleeping and struck fear into my heart.
~ Eating out with my boyfriend, or, alternatively, having him cook me eggs in the morning.
~ Going back to brunette! Honestly.. after the continual reinvention that was hair modelling (I came 3rd in my category, by the way!), it was like slipping into a warm bath.
~ Hopefully having a house to move into in three weeks.. hm..
Where oh where did you karaoke in Wellington? I must know! :D
Also I introduced my mother to EFT after reading about it here, and it has been amazing! So, a very large thankyou!!!
I hope you do get a chance to visit Canada. I live in Toronto, and the city has a great vibe. Summer is a good time to visit because there are a lot of street festivals!
TiLT – Korea anticipation! I’m going to South Korea to teach English for a year xD I’m going to be in Seoul and I’m super, super excited.
- Having bubble tea with friends. Since I’m leaving soon, I’ve been trying to get together with friends as much as possible. I love going out for drinks at night and just shooting the breeze until the wee hours.
- Quiet dinners at home with family. It’s the total opposite with my family. We don’t have lively conversations, but each other’s presence is so comfortable and reassuring. Even though my mother, father and younger sister can annoy me at some time or another, I know I’ll miss them so much when I leave.
Oh, Halloween! I love it best! I can imagine it’s fabulous in NY . . . it certainly is in Boston, though you’d stand out marvelously if you don’t go to an Iparty and buy a “Sexy ______ Outfit.” I hate that crap.
@sweety_heart : doubtful you read these after you, but i may also be in seoul this coming year teaching some english! nonpareil meet-up??! i just moved from montreal, and i am missing canada already . . .
thrift stores : i’ve been wearing mostly thrifted stuff lately and been getting lots of compliments.
mini toiletries : silly, i know, but i’m packing for LONDON and i love mini bottles!
tattoos i love the four i have now, and i love even more brainstorming and planning for the rest of my chest-piece and to start on a half-sleeve eventually.
sasquatch even though the georgia thing was a hoax, someday that big ol’hairy guy will pop up!
adam he is my boyfriend and i love him every much.
my full and extended tilt . . .

Hello Gala, :)
I’m Danielle, I’m a future blogger and I’ll be moving to NYC this September also. I’ve followed your blog for a while and from what I can tell is that you’re a pretty awesome chick, aka, my kind a gal! And since you already know some cool places and people in the city I’d like to meet up with you when you get to NYC. I hope I’m not coming across too forward. I just think that we’d have quite a bit in common. Such as a love for Halloween, eclectic fashion, tattoos, vegetarian/veganism and all things fun and cheery. I really hope to hear from you soon! Take care!
Sincerely,
Danielle aka dollfacegenius

It’s still Thursday here, so I’m going to do one for once, seeing as I LOVE Thursday at the moment
-Finally getting out what you wanted to say after spending forever taking deep breaths then chickening out
-Listening to my heart
-Getting the giggles
-Haircuts that air-dry perfectly every time
-Mom’s cooking. And not just my mom, any body’s mom
-Re-thinking my outlook on some things involved in life
Count me in darling!!! And I forgot to mention that I’m completely in love with Manhattan. I just get such a natural high when I walk the streets, see new things, meet new people. I especially love the West and East Village. And thanks for responding back so fast. Lightning fast! Wow, I can sense some fun times ahead!
Sincerely,
Danielle :)
Two big ones:
I have the job I want! This is a huge career move, but it’s in an office that I used to work at. I get to be helping students choose where they’ll be studying abroad! So much fun! Plus…having a steady paycheck isn’t anything to sneeze at.
And I found an apartment! It’s in an area of LA that I LOVE around the corner from one of the best malls and my favorite deli. Plus it’s in a Spanish style 1920’s fourplex which is just gorgeous. I’m so happy that things are finally settling down. Give it a month, and everything will be just very calm again. It’s been a long time since it’s been like that in my life.
