Happy almost New Moon! It all goes down this Sunday. I’m so excited, because not only is it a New Moon, it’s also a Solar Eclipse, and it’s my birthday! Talk about a big, dynamic vibe to kick off my solar return!

To help you make the most of this delicious New Moon, Mystic Medusa has the astrological overview, and I’ve got suggestions for how to use the energy to your advantage. Let’s do this!

IN THE SKY… (Mystic Medusa)

A New Moon that is an Eclipse is a Moon maxed out. So given that New Moons are all about the clean sweep and the fresh start, this one is an intensified start-over vibe. As it is also in Virgo and opposite maverick healer Chiron, even the most baseline change or intellectual reset has deeper psychological implications.

Now it’s actually the Full Moon Eclipse at the end of September that is the real piece of work. That’s like a great big zap from the cosmos, a time when you don’t to be caught complacent or still trying to re-live/relate to a past paradigm. So use this weekend’s sparkling New Moon Eclipse for a mindful revamp. It works brilliantly if you’re upbeat and full of vim but brazenly pragmatic about confronting what’s real. The truth about a relationship, friendship, lifestyle, business plan – anything – as opposed to what the flimsy veil of comfortable (sort of) delusion would show up.

The more you stop pretending, roll up your sleeves and get to work with what’s presenting – with what is Real – the more energy you free up. The more vitality, resources, love, money and guidance you get. Pretense and denial take up a shit-load of life force to even run at a low level. Clear and declutter on every single level for a Good Time this New Moon.

ON THE GROUND… (Gala Darling)

As Mystic Medusa said, this is a big month — not just the solar eclipse on the 13th of September, but the Full Moon at the end of the month. Think of it like an astrological colonic! The truth is going to be revealed and old systems will crumble. By the start of October, we are all going to be totally different people. Exciting! Scary! Yes! I surrender! You should too!

Here are a few ideas to ease you through the start of the transition…

BURN, BABY, BURN
I spent the last two days leading radical self love rituals at Soul Camp in Pennsylvania, and even though writing down and burning stuff is so simple, I was reminded — again — how extremely powerful it is. When you spend time contemplating the things you don’t want in your life anymore, write it down and burn it, the feeling of transmutation is enormous.

Of course, you can just scrawl your notes on a piece of index card, but injecting a little ceremony into the moment is potent. I love flash paper from White Magick Alchemy, which I then set alight in my tiny travel-sized cast iron cauldron. It flashes, sparkles and sizzles, and lets off an enormous plume of smoke. (I love to watch the smoke bloom and dissipate. Again: powerful.)

GET CLEAR AND TRUTHFUL… ABOUT EVERYTHING
Don’t shy away from reality. People are constantly showing us who they are, but the temptation to ignore it or “reinterpret” their behaviour is massive. Don’t worry: this New Moon will strip all of that shit away!

If you’re ready for it, this is an incredible time to set the intention that you want to see, know and hear the truth, both from yourself and the people around us. Denial can be comfortable, but it’s not real. Let’s all take a deep breath this weekend and ask for the truth, even though that might scare the hell out of us!

Look at what hasn’t been working in your life and make a declaration to yourself that you’re not going to operate within those stale old parameters anymore. For example, if you’ve always behaved a certain way in romantic relationships — and you’ve outgrown that old way of being– it’s time to switch to something else. Be really honest with yourself: if you’re not happy with what you’re receiving in your life, what can you change to set up a new paradigm? Often, what we are not currently receiving is the same thing we are not giving generously.

GET RID OF ANYTHING THAT DOESN’T RESONATE
Virgo energy is all about decluttering, keeping it tidy, and being organised so that you can take control of your life. You cannot make empowered decisions when you’re living in a mess and can’t find anything! Having a clear, clean space is the ideal baseline to operate from.

It’s time for a massive clean sweep. I was looking at someone’s bookshelf on Monday and it had books about ideologies he experimented with (and discarded) when he was 17 years old! Get rid of that shit! You don’t need it! Donate your old books, clothes, DVDs. Minimise, minimise, minimise. You’ll feel so much better.
