Things I Love Thursday
It’s that time again! Time to go for a trip down thankfulness lane!
By the way! Those of you, who, in yesterday’s post, asked for more ideas or places to start on their journey of self-adoration? THINGS I LOVE THURSDAY is a great place to start! I mean, you don’t have to do it here. But just start practicing gratitude. Make yourself come up with a list of ten things you’re happy about before you have your juice in the morning. Name three things you’re excited about before you get out of bed. Tell people who want favours that you’ll do it as long as they list five things they love! Start building up an atmosphere of appreciation & love, & watch your life get really big & lovely & full. It works, I promise.
With that in mind, here’s my list!
My take on a fifties Barbie look. It consisted of a Betsey Johnson black & white striped cropped cardigan with bright pink skull on the back; high-waist pink leather miniskirt; pink glitter cat’s eye makeup; straight bangs; black white & pink Barbie scarf rolled & knotted on the top of my head; heart-shaped rhinestone dangly earrings; black stockings with crystals on them; Dr Marten boots. I don’t have very good pictures but here! Betsey liked it too! (Swoon! SWOON!)
Finally getting a haircut! On Sunday, in a crazy rage, I took out all my extensions, & yesterday went crawling to Angela at Whistle to beg her to do something with my mop. It looks so cute now! I look like I am from Pixie Town(tm)!
New Zealand’s Next Top Model! GUYS! It started WEEKS ago! Why didn’t anyone tell me?! I stayed up late last night catching up & am so into it. Hahaha it is so amazing, they had to pose inside a rolling ZORB! Are you kidding me?! I love hearing NZ accents & seeing my country again. Are any of you watching? I think the twins are so rad, I love them, but I think Danielle, Courtenay & Michaela have the best chances of going a long way in the competition…
Weird weddings which include 7 year old girls crip-walking (skip to 35 seconds!), Chinese guys breakdancing, rock-hard cake & drinking Scotch with The Dish while we generally behaved badly. It was so much fun, hahah. When your boyfriend is your best friend & all you want to do is get into trouble together, it is the best thing in the world.
Last but not least! I am also loving… The Game’s Break Lights mixtape (listen to this); watching Miss Universe with The Dish & being TOTALLY RIGHT that Miss Mexico would win!; talking to Jess (who I miss!); cute lunches which involve much plotting & fresh juice; Trainspotting soundtrack (an oldie but a goodie for sure); fake flowers all over my house; working from my Filofax (makes me feel very organised); Midnight Mambo Sephora By OPI nailpolish worn with a big Electric Hearts Tarina Tarantino ring; George Michael (foreverrrr!); the Brooklyn Flea Market (I love it!); having cupcakes from Sugar Sweet Sunshine delivered (eeeeevil!); my feature in Inked!; striped maxi-skirts & metallic knit sweaters (which prompt The Dish to say, “Why does your shirt look like chainmail?”); styling Nubby via email; shopping while drinking a cherry cocktail; Real Simple magazine (I read it at the hairdresser & it is so excellent! I need a subscription!), & also how excited the dogs are when we all wake up. There are few things more wonderful (that I know!) than a dog who absolutely adores you. Really, you can’t beat it.

“Research… shows that people who keep a gratitude journal, who each night before going to sleep write at least five things for which they are grateful, big things or little things, are happier, more optimistic, more successful, more likely to achieve their goals, physically healthier; it actually strengthens our immune system, & are more generous & benevolent toward others.” (Source.)
I’d love to read your list for the week! Start your radical self-love mission TODAY!
