Carousel: Cupcake ATMs & An Homage To Hips!
I kinda loved this article: I Went to the Pre-Oscar Celebrity Gifting Suites and All I Got Was This Sense of Disgust. Celebrity culture is so bizarre & gifting suites totally gross me out. Like I said on Twitter, celebrities are the last people who need free products. It’s like goodie bags at fashion week — no one who gets them actually needs them. I would give a standing ovation to a designer who left a note on each card that simply said, “We have donated x to y in your name.” Knawmean?
Sarah Wilson rode around New Zealand on a bike — awesome! — & my favourite bit was when she described New Zealanders as “outgoing, humble, engaging, enthusiastic and not cynical.” This Kiwi is so very flattered!
Why I tearfully deleted my Pinterest inspiration boards is a very interesting read. Hopefully Pinterest will change their TOU…
Luxirare made her dog an Adidas sweatsuit. It’s pretty fantastic, really.
This is one of my favourite things I’ve read in ages: Stop writing on the internet to make people love you. Please go read the whole thing.
It is not strangers’ jobs to love you. It is your job to find a way to not let it bother you so you can carry on with writing.
Kat interviewed Lara Jade who is totally brilliant. She’s also a very young, very successful photographer.
I really enjoyed reading about Stacey Bendet’s apartment.
Let’s fund this project, okay, & then have a party there?!
A must for international playgirls: a scratch-off travel map of the world! It’s out of stock, but consider this my public plea to bring it back! Please!
Did you know that even the Moon has stretchmarks? Hey, if it’s good enough for the Moon, it’s good enough for us…
Rue magazine put out their February issue & it’s delightful.
I am 100% in love with Kris’ illustrations of Meadham Kirchoff! So good!
Wow, IKEA is now selling entire houses. It’s pretty cheerful, actually! I don’t mind it at all.
Oh my goodness. Cupcake ATM machines are coming to NYC… Like we needed it!
If you love NYC but can’t be here right now, you could always make your own out of paper!
This series of photographs shows how even as we age, we still see ourselves as we used to be…
I love this idea of meeting your partner at the restaurant!
Maddie the Coonhound is such a cute blog. I wish I could get my dogs to balance on things!
If you’re a new mama & you’re feeling stressed or anxious, read this.
Let’s go to Amsterdam & ice-skate on the canals!
& I wanted to share this poem with you, too…
homage to my hips by Lucille Clifton
these hips are big hips
they need space to
move around in.
they don’t fit into little
petty places. these hips
are free hips.
they don’t like to be held back.
these hips have never been enslaved,
they go where they want to go
they do what they want to do.
these hips are mighty hips.
these hips are magic hips.
i have known them
to put a spell on a man and
spin him like a top!
Have a beautiful weekend…
