Paris En Bleu
Bonjour!
I’m so excited to share some of the pictures Juliane Berry shot of Nubby & I while we were in Paris!
This series was shot in Le Marais, a truly beautiful (& very old) part of the city.
I was wearing…
Blue bowler hat, vintage, bought on Etsy
Blue velvet dress from the 1950s, again, vintage, bought on eBay
Black crinoline underneath (haha! You can only imagine what my suitcase looked like, right?!)
Studded belt, origin unknown. I don’t remember where I got it! All I know is that I have worn it to death!
Black Olsenboye shrug
Black stockings
Dr Marten Darcie patent leather boots
This dress arrived a day before I was due to leave for Europe. I tried it on & was filled with despair. It originally had these immense, puffy sleeves, which looked absolutely dreadful. I can’t wear puffy sleeves, shoulderpads, or anything of that ilk–I have very broad shoulders as it is, & anything which emphasises them just makes me look like a linebacker!
So, in a fit of cold-&-flu-medicine-induced-delirium, I grabbed a pair of kitchen scissors & hacked the sleeves off.
“There!”, I exclaimed to myself. “Much better!”
It was not the most elegant solution, no. But it worked, & it left me with some ruffley shoulder detail which is probably more interesting than an immaculately finished edge. (At least, that’s what I tell myself!)
Ahhh, this photo. Yes… my Spiderman pose. Look at the madness in my eyes! I was hanging from a jungle gym in a park, contemplating how exactly I would manage to kick my legs over so I could dangle upside down. Then I decided not to. Sorry.
Bless. I think this is my favourite photo from Paris.
