Things I Love Thursday

Things I Love ThursdayPhotographs from French Playboy.

I like New York in June, how about you? I like a Gershwin tune, how about you? I love a fireside when a storm is due, I like potato chips, moonlight motor trips, how about you? I’m mad about good books, can’t get my fill, & James Durante’s looks give me a thrill. Holding hands in the movie show, when all the lights are low, may not be new, but I like it, how about you?

Here are some things I L-O-V-E this week! I apologise again for no list last week — let’s make up for it this Thursday, huh?

Dolly Darling is rocking my world. She is so cute, as you all saw earlier today! It’s really lovely & satisfying to watch her settle into our life & routines, too. She is getting more comfortable with us & the house every day. I have been working in the living room since we got her, so I can keep an eye on both the dogs while I write, & she is either asleep at my feet or trying to lick my face!

Hank Williams who is like my puppy knight in shining armour. Dolly is so excitable & nutty, & she always has this evil look on her face like she is a French villain, going, “Heh heh heh!”, plotting & scheming away. (See what I mean?) Hank is more like an all-American hero. He is so calm & good. DAMN I love him!

Having dinner with Sarah Wilson was definitely one of the highlights of my week. As you all know, I link to Sarah every week, because I love her writing. She gave me my first real writing job — that of fashion columnist for Cosmopolitan magazine — but before last Sunday, we had never really spent any time together in person. Our dinner was amazing! It felt like we both had so much we needed to say to one another, & it was really invigorating, insightful, funny & cool. She gave me lots of things to think about & I hope I did the same for her. I was sad that our time together was so short! Please come back to NYC soon!

Las Vegas with Jess who I miss like mad. We really did have the best time. Much more to come on that next week!

Not having cable any more! The house is so much more relaxed & peaceful now, the difference is HUGE. I am a huge believer in home being a sanctuary, & how can it feel that way when commercials are screaming at you & you’re bombarded with a slew of shows about how the world is ending?! Can I tell you a secret? I really dislike television. It is SO obnoxious. I would be even happier if we didn’t have a TV at all, but since getting rid of cable, & 5000 channels full of rubbish, we barely even turn it on anymore! Suits me just fine…

Things I Love Thursday

Delicious! Watching Robin Williams on the plane; looking at ridiculous dog costumes online (oh just you wait); “We’ve got a blind date with destiny… & it looks like she ordered the lobster”; rain which cools off the city; Drake’s Thank You; Adidas x Jeremy Scott sequinned trackpants; eating maraschino cherries straight out of the jar at night; fantastic packages (including a huge box from Wildfox Couture, thank you girls!!!); rad sneakers; getting really dressed up (& not always falling prey to the working-in-pyjamas-self-employed curse!); seeing Dolly make faces & saying to her, “Don’t be evil!”; slumbering puppy parties; thinking about & researching retreats; Amy seeing the Finding My Goddess guy in a restaurant in Santa Barbara (& yes, he was alone, carting around a rolling suitcase!) & excitedly texting me about it; meeting Le Dish for lunch (always fun, should do it more often); skulls with hearts for eyes; obsessing over my Filofax (details to come); the HTC Incredible phone (it really is incredible); having the most productive week in… eons (taking a week off really is good for the brain); Dolly following me everywhere like a little shadow; Justin Timberlake’s Suite 806; Timbaland’s Presents Shock Value II; but mostly just being firmly ensconced in Puppy Wonderland with my handsome, amazingly patient, hard-working, solid-as-a-rock, extremely intelligent lover.

“Neither a lofty degree of intelligence nor imagination nor both together go to the making of genius. Love, love, love, that is the soul of genius.” — Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

What is making your life go PING this week?!
