Things I Love Thursday

Oh, what’s that? What did you say? Speak up, I can’t hear you. Oh, it’s time for the WORLD FAMOUS THINGS I LOVE THURSDAY?! Really? How appropriate! I was just getting my list ready! Don’t you love it when things work out like that?!

Okay, so here’s my TiLT list! It’s been a really quiet week, maybe one of the quietest all year, but here’s what I’ve come up with!

Remember that if you want to participate on your own blog or journal, start a Facebook thread, whatever, you can use a badge! (It will make you look cool, promise, & there are two wicked new badges by Kate & Karen for you to pilfer!)

Murs — I just heard the track he made with Busy P, To Protect & Entertain (thank you, Sophie!). Have a listen, it is magnifique. Best parts? “L.A., city of smog, scenesters, hipsters, sneakers, blogs… Tomorrow morning I’mma be on Cobrasnake, makin’ out with a chick that my girlfriend hates!” Murs, you are awesome.

What I Wore Today — I was first contacted by Graffito Books about appearing in WIWT aaaaaages ago (or so it seems!), so you can imagine my delight & surprise to see a copy of the book in my local Urban Outfitters! (Well, it was local at the time!) It’s an amazing book, featuring some of the most interesting, cool & innovative outfits worn by girls online! I have 3 pages in it, & there are also pictures of a whole bunch of my friends, including my infamous wife, Nubby! Yay!

Seeing old friends — Moving to a different country can often fracture friendships. It’s really easy to forget about people when you don’t see them all the time, or to get more involved with the people you do see regularly! One of the best things, though, about meeting awesome people, is that when you get back together in the same city, often it’s just the way it always was. I also really, really love the fact that the three girls I see most often in New Zealand are people who’ve known me since I was 14! Bonus: They’re all just as sweet & cool as they’ve ever been. I love them.

Planning roadtrips! A friend & I have been trading excited emails about making the trek north in January. By then, I will have my learner’s license (simultaneous laughter & excitement!) so I will actually be able to do some of the driving! Oh my god! Auckland, you’ll see me sooooooon!

Easing back into the NZ lifestyle — Wow. New Zealand & New York could not be more different. Every time I come back to NZ, it becomes even more apparent to me. My parents live by the sea, & it is so quiet here! All the time! Yesterday someone crashed their Mini down the road & I actually went out to witness the excitement! Seriously. While I am still hankering for the energy of Manhattan, Wellington definitely has charm, & it’s really beautiful. Postcard-esque. I’m doing my very best to soak up as much of it as I can — by kicking back, relaxing, enjoying the sunshine, & taking lots of photos, because I know that when I leave for the States next year, I won’t be back for a while!

Honourable mentions: The video for Hello by Lionel Richie (my friend told me about it on Saturday night, & it just happened to play on television the next afternoon — I laughed SO HARD, it is unbelievably awful!); Commodores – Nightshift (love it so much); Blueprint (new favourite Rhymesayers artist, maybe?); having a lazy eye in photos (channelling my inner Paris Hilton); Snow Patrol (I am a fan, I am, I am); working on new projects (coming soon baby!); big bowls of guacamole; big stacks of books; “I like snogging better than sex“; MSM (I haven’t taken any for months & have just started again); 2 hour + phonecalls with my girlfriends; reminiscing & laughing; running through the rain in high heels; Kanye West’s 808s & Heartbreaks (even though it suffers from a major case of auto-tune overdose); new Moleskines (I just bought my 2009 diary & started a new blank soft-covered one, too); apple slices with peanut butter (new obsession); Bong-Ra’s super-long mixes; looking at my wedding ring (what a nerd!); planning trips to the beach; Lamb — I forgot all about them, criminal! Especially when Little Things (lyrics) could easily be the TiLT theme song!; counting my blessings on the Flickr blog; the fact that gratitude is ALL THE RAGE!; having manners; being productive; good rich coffee; my new awesome vampire t-shirt (it says “Truth be told, vampires suck. BLOOD THIRSTY IMMORTALS!” & was a gift from Timmy Kern!), & getting to wear my summer clothes again!

I also want to send my love out to my favourite crew, Palms Out, purveyors of FINE tunes! They are getting a lot of grief from Google & Blogger right now, & it’s all very unfortunate. Fingers crossed that everything gets sorted out soon. I love you guys! My palms is outttt!

Bonus points! If you have any pressing questions you want to ask me about, well, anything — being Gala, the iCiNG project, etc., send ’em through! iCiNG’s 2 year anniversary is coming up (can you believe it?!) & as a special treat, I decided to do an interview with myself like y’all have been requesting with my career articles! So, ask me whatever you like, all I ask is that you please email ’em through rather than just commenting, because otherwise they’ll get lost forever! Peeeeace!

“The trick is not how much pain you feel — but how much joy you feel. Any idiot can feel pain. Life is full of excuses to feel pain, excuses not to live, excuses, excuses, excuses.” — Erica Jong

Okay then gorgeous, how about you? What made you do a little jig of glee this week?
