Vintage Kenzo scarf
Sportsgirl earrings
Vintage jumpsuit from Bowerbird Vintage
Most simple outfit of all time! Parfait for lounging around the house, drinking juice, climbing on the kitchen table… you know, the usual!

I love the straps. You can wear them any way you like, but I like a bit of criss-cross action. Gorgeous, right?

Needless to say, I am delighted with my new jumpsuit! Jumpsuits are now like dresses to me — the perfect item. All you need to do is accessorise. There is no matching this or that or finding something to go. Just grab some earrings, do your hair & go! Call me smitten.
This little treasure arrived in the post on Friday, all the way from Australia! It came from my friend Joanna’s amazing clothing boutique, Bowerbird Vintage. (You might remember my amazing futuristic air hostess dress which is from Bowerbird, too!) Joanna is sponsoring iCiNG this week — yay! — & we have put together a special shipping deal for you!
Joanna is offering shipping of any item at a flat rate of $10, to anywhere in the world! (You just need to send her an email about it. Simple!) The shipping is shockingly fast, too; my jumpsuit arrived in four days!
One of the coolest things about Bowerbird is that if you want to get involved, you can! Joanna often reworks garments, & in the design forum, you can play virtual seamstress (without the pin-pricks!). On the chopping block right now is a little somethin’ Joanna likes to call the “Stevie Nicks Extravaganza” — & oh my, it could use a little love! Oh, & if you’re trying to save some bling, never fear! There is now a sale area, with lots of lovely pieces for individualistic minxes!
Okay… I am going to go roll around & pretend I am a chilled out, peace-sign-flashin’, free-lovin’ 70’s mama!
Super-love & cupcakes,
Gala ![]()

You make that jumpsuit look AMAZING! I really love the low back.
You make me want to go find a jumpsuit now, it looks super comfortable.
Jumpsuits! At first I was dubious, but you and the lovely lady at Sea of Shoes have convinced me otherwise! And I loooove the back on this one, now I just need to tone my own back so it’ll look alright.
As always, you look comfy and gorgeous~
love the straps, and I love the scarf with it, and am a big fan of Bowerbird! it’s great to see one of her vintage items on.
great looking! extra bonus for those straps ;) and it looks your’re having a great time, kisses!
I love the way you can express your personality in an outfit composed of just two items plus earrings. Absolutely beautiful, as usual (and I like the colour of your walls as well).
you look so comfy!
Wow!
I adore that jumpsuit! It looks so comfortable!
She’s offering a flat-rate of 10$ to anywhere in the world, this week? Wowza! What a Saint!
:D
Sorry to double post Gala, but is that your fur coat I see in the mirror?
It’s so hot and humid in Montreal, I can only imagine what it must be like in New York City!
OH MY.
That is beautiful, and looks so perfect for the warm weather that seems be going on all along the east coast!
Super cute! I don’t know if I can pull off a jumpsuit, but you give me hope. Also, I love Jamba Juice. I moved to a new state that doesn’t have it and that makes me ever so sad.
that jumpsuit roocks! the straps on the back are so beautiful, and I agree that using them cross is the best way to go :) you look amazing
wow! i so couldn’t pull that off but it looks amazing on you!!
sarah frost — As long as they’re the right length for your torso, they are super-comfortable. I love wearing my Forever 21 jumpsuit with a t-shirt over the top — it just looks like I’m wearing silky loose wide-leg pants! Very lounge chic ;D
fashionherald — I have so much love for Joanna & what she does at Bowerbird!
queercat — I totally am!
Retro.Bunny — Yeah, my faux-fur coat is hanging on a hook near the front door (with a couple of other coats, my scarf & an umbrella). It is SO hot here. I need to post them back to Australia I think, because I don’t have any space in my suitcase!
Trisha — I usually go to an independent juice place which does greeeeat juices, but Jamba Juice was near where I happened to be this morning!
What a fun outfit! And, it totally shows that having small boobs can rock! :) Not to be crass, but if you had bigger ones that outfit just wouldn’t be as easy to pull off. Yay for the small girls!!
You style is getting closer to stuff I’d wear, Gala :D
oh, the leisure! i’m getting relaxed just looking at these photos…
Forgive, please, this note in passing, but you are amazingly..IMPOSSIBLY..lovely. Stunning pictures, truly, CR
i love the outfit, but i also love the color of the walls behind you. i would love to see the way you’ve decorated your apartment (if thats not too intrusive) since you also have great style when it comes to interior design
oooohhhhh, i LOVE clothing that shows off the back! i am thin but have wide shoulders from years of swimming & i feel so elegant yet powerful when my shoulders & back are exposed. bonus for the super-soft material!
also, those jamba juice all-fruit smoothies are a lifesaver for people like me who are vegans-on-the-go & need a quick & healthy snack! i love my veggies but for some reason i have a hard time incorporating fruits into my diet. besides avocados & guacamole, that is. :)
I LOVE That scarf! Where do you find these gems?! Gorgeous!
Vixxie.
Loving your kitchen table! Me and my boyfriend are moving in a month and I have furniture on the brain. We are in search of a perfect natural wood table like that :).
It’s not my taste but I do enjoy your photos and writing :)
I don’t normally go for jumpsuits—they’re not usually very flattering—but this one is gorgeous, and you look gorgeous in it!
You have convinced me to rock a jumpsuit! Granted, the only one I have is a heavy olive, now-it’s-time-to-work-in-the-sculpture-lab extravaganza, but I used to do a tank girl type thing in it. In autumn, it will have to come out to play again.
Also! Thanks for the previous mood board inspiration. I now have a gigantic cork board next to my desk that I call (alternately) the Joy board, or the Positoovity (word stolen from the Little Mermaid on Broadway soundtrack) board. I have a calendar on it, but not of schedules- of exciting, good things happening. I also tacked up some love notes + exciting photos. And the background is not cork-ugly, I put some wrapping paper on it.
So, thank you, for everything. You’re exceptionally positive, + a joy to read. Shine on, you crazy diamond!
Ooh, is this really a shot of your apartment in New York? Looks VERY nice! I adore non-conventional wall colors!
Sexy back, by the way. Those straps are amazing.
This is definitely the first jumpsuit I have ever liked. You just look beyond cute & comfy. Can’t wait to go check out that Bowerbird link, thanks!
It appears from the photos that you have echoed the strap design in your earrings to those on the shoulder straps, yes? And is that toe polish the same shade as your hair? A very thoughtful, yet casual mix.
minnie — There isn’t much to see because it’s not my apartment & I’m only here for another three weeks. Really all I have done is throw my books around & hang my clothes up!
Vixxie — I bought the scarf on Ebay!
Tara Diane — The guy I’m renting from is a furniture designer, so most of the furniture in here is stuff he’s made. The couple have great taste!
Beth — Aw, no problem, cuteness! I’m glad you’re finding things here to stimulate your brain!
Alice — Oui! It’s my… um… dining area, I guess, but I never eat there! When you walk in the front door it’s the first thing you see.
Super Kawaii Mama — Yes, but actually, both of those things were incidental! The colour on my toes is an OPI “designer” colour called ‘Glamour’, it’s purple/blue holographic. Absolutely incredible if you can find it (I bought my bottle on Ebay!).
Hooray for Bowerbird!
I must post a link to the dress I bought off Joanna last week – I can’t wait for it to arrive in the mail!

I plan to get it shortened a bit more, and then wear it for a Melbourne restaurant opening party with electric blue and pink hair extensions, and it’ll be great to email Joanna with the pictures! She was super helpful with all my questions, so it’s great to see her getting some airtime here.
I think the jumpsuit looks great too… But may I ask if there is any Hollywood tape at play here? And I x2 the advantages of having small boobs.
You look fabulous! I will check out your friend’s boutique.
I am in love with this outfit.
I think that Backs are super sexy, and a much underrated body part. Yours looks amazing in this jumpsuit!
Oh my goodness I’ve never seen a jumpsuit look so chic! That looks so amazingly comfortable and glamorous to lounge around in!
This outfit is perfect! And it looks amazing on you! So effortless and chic.
Also, this may be off topic, but I love that table. :D
Gala!
I have loved the direction icing has been taking, and I am really proud that you have come to like the US so much! However, I was wondering about the scarcity of weekly resolutions? Thanks to you building such a good habit in me I still do them, but I miss the community feeling of the posts!
You inspire me to dress how I want and not how everyone thinks I should look. You are my saving grace!
Those photos are gorgeous! I love the simple outfit with the dark walls, warm wood, shiny mirror and light, and fluffy fur coat.
wow, looks amazing (as usual) Gala Darling! You are such a doll…. I am scared to buy things (esp. vintage which is usually small sizes) off the internet in regards to clothing, what if it doesn’t fit or looks hideous on me?!
Is that a Juiceblendz cup?
oh my, gala!! a jumpsuit? wow. never thought of it…
& i’m sorry if this sounds a bit pervert-ish (!) but your chest looks amazing in the third picture – wroof!
I had to say that ;D
Gorgeous! I love criss cross straps too :) I wish the weather would start warming up here so I could take off a few layers of clothes – I’m in QLD! Why is it so cold?? Crazy. Be cool, baby! pixie kisses xxx
It must be said that you look absolutely divine here! I’m loving the jumpsuit look, and can’t wait for it to cross the seven seas for the Australian spring!
You’re so lucky to have such a fabulous apartment :]
Kirsten — Ooh, that dress is gorge! You’re going to shiiiine at the restaurant opening! I agree, Joanna is fantastic. It’s one of the fabulous perks of my work, that I get to talk up & promote exceptional people! Oh, & I’m not using any Hollywood tape. It makes the jumpsuit a slightly risky proposition, though I am thinking of buying a tube top kind of thing from American Apparel to wear with it, for modest days!
Kayla — Aw! I’m sorry you miss them. I stopped doing them because I realised that a lot of my goals for the week are, well, personal &/or secret business stuff, & I didn’t really want them online for everyone to see. I found myself in the weird position of making weekly resolutions that weren’t very important to me just because I needed something to publish, & that seemed kind of disingenuous. I am planning to put something in place in the near future which will allow you to do weekly resolutions here, without my involvement so much… Stay tuned!
Caitlin Marie — Oh! I’m so glad! Mwah!
Nadine — Thank you, sweetheart!
Natasja — Check your measurements! Also, I know that Bowerbird allows returns of things that don’t suit or fit… she is the exception though, rather than the rule!
Valerie — Nope, Jamba Juice!
irmak — Haha. Thank you! ;D
Casey-Scott — I know, I love it! My friend is coming to stay with me the last week I’m in the city & I have told her she might have to physically drag me from the place…
You look very New York :)
